The 2001 Nova Supersports Cup was an association football friendly tournament competition hosted by Greek premium sports network Nova Sports in 2001, held in Athens. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The tournament occurred on 3 August 2001 with the participation of Greek Alpha Ethniki club AEK Athens, Sevilla from the La Liga and Bologna from the Serie A, which eventually won the tournament. [5]

All the games were played at the Nikos Goumas Stadium a 27,729-seat multi-use venue, home ground of hosts AEK Athens. The ground was demolished in June 2003.

AEK is a Greek professional football club based in Nea Filadelfeia, a suburban town in the Athens urban area, Greece.
Andreas Zafiropoulos is a Greek businessman and was the major shareholder of AEK Athens F.C. for eleven years, from 1981 to 1992. During this time, he sometimes gave up the presidency and management, but always kept the shares. During his days, AEK won 2 Championships and 1 Cup a Super Cup and a League Cup. In 1992 he sold the shares of the club to the duo Dimitris Melissanidis and Giannis Karras. Since then he has not been actively involved with AEK, but from time to time he participates in various events and actions of the team.

The 2002–03 Greek Football Cup was the 61st edition of the Greek Football Cup. That season's edition was entitled "Vodafone Greek Cup" for sponsorship reasons.
The 2003–04 season was the 80th season in the existence of AEK Athens F.C. and the 45th consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. They competed in the Alpha Ethniki, the Greek Cup and the UEFA Champions League. The season began on 17 August 2003 and finished on 22 May 2004.
Nikos Goumas was a Greek businessman who served as the twelfth president of AEK Athens F.C. from 1956 until 1963. He was considered one of the "patriarchs" of the club.
