The 2002 Selecta-PBA All-Filipino Cup finals was the best-of-5 basketball championship series of the 2002 PBA All-Filipino Cup and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. The Coca Cola Tigers and Alaska Aces played for the 83rd championship contested by the league. [1]
Coca Cola Tigers wins their 1st PBA title with a 3–1 series victory over the Alaska Aces as history was made on Christmas Day with the Tigers becoming the first team to win a championship in their first season. [2]

Ato Morano pumped in 8 of his game-high 23 points in the extension period as he filled in for the Tigers' reliable scorers, Johnny Abarrientos and Jeffrey Cariaso, who were sideline by injuries they sustained in the finals and semifinals, respectively, Rudy Hatfield buried a triple barely a minute left in overtime that keyed the Tigers' breakaway, Morano's free throws made it 70–64 but Kenneth Duremdes and Don Allado converted five straight points in the final 16 seconds that kept the Aces in the game, Rob Duat could have sent the game into second overtime but his two three-pointers rattled out at the final buzzer.

Kenneth Duremdes missed a potential game-winning shot with 4 ticks left as Coca Cola stole another overtime victory and moved the Tigers to within a win of capturing the title, the Aces were contesting what looked like a three-point shot drained by John Arigo in the last 43 seconds. Arigo's jumper could have tied the game at 60-all but referee Mario Montiel assessed the shot as only two points, giving the Tigers a one-point lead in the process, Television cameras showed Arigo's attempt was way out of the three-point line, the final count was an all-time low for a PBA championship series with the Tigers scoring only five points in the third quarter and typified the game's offensive drought in some stretches.

Rafi Reavis led a big third quarter attack as he buried three triples, including a buzzer-beater that towed the Tigers to a 59–47 advantage entering the final period, from there, it was an all Coca Cola show with Ato Morano's hot-shooting and Rudy Hatfield, adjudged the finals MVP, battling for every possession, the Tigers cemented their place in PBA history. The Powerade Tigers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 2002 to 2012. The franchise was owned by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) when the company acquired Cosmos Bottling Corporation from RFM Corporation. From 2002 to 2010, the team played as the Coca-Cola Tigers. The franchise won two PBA championships.
The Alaska Aces were a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association since 1986 under the ownership of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) and the owner of 14 PBA championships, tied with the Magnolia Hotshots for the third-most titles overall. They are one of the most popular teams in the league and the Philippines.
The Pop Cola Panthers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 1990-2001. The franchise was owned by RFM Corporation. In 2001, when RFM Corporation sold its entire stake in Cosmos Bottling Corporation to Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI), the PBA franchise was included in the transaction. Upon ownership by CCBPI, the PBA franchise renamed the Coca-Cola Tigers beginning the 2002 PBA season and was considered as an expansion team.
Johnny Abarrientos is a Filipino retired professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was also a many-time member of the Philippine National team, and was the 1996 PBA Most Valuable Player, becoming the shortest player to win the league's highest individual award. He is known by many as The Flying A when he started playing for the Alaska Milkmen in 1993. He is currently an assistant coach for the Magnolia Hotshots and for the FEU Tamaraws.
Kenneth Celera Duremdes is a Filipino retired professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association and the current commissioner of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Nicknamed as "Captain Marbel", Duremdes is also a former PBA Most Valuable Player in 1998, and a former member of the Philippine national basketball team.

He also played for various PBA teams, mostly with Alaska, for 15 seasons. He is known as "The Jet". He is also the basketball operations director of Slam Magazine Philippines.
Edward "Poch" Juinio is a Filipino retired former professional basketball player of the Philippine Basketball Association. He played most of his seasons with Alaska Aces and won numerous championships.
