The Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) leadership election of 2017 was held on 10 March 2017, prior October 2017 legislative elections. The current leader and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka was the only candidate.

Finále Plzeň Film Festival

Finále Plzeň is a film festival based in the Czech Republic. It focuses on Czech feature and documentary films. The best film is awarded the Golden Kingfisher by a jury. It was founded in 1967 and the first year was held in 1968. The festival was held in 1970 but the Golden Kingfisher wasn't awarded. The festival wasn't held again until 1990, when 12 films were awarded the Kingfisher to represent Czech and Slovak cinematography from the 1969-1990 period.

2017 Mayors and Independents leadership election

A leadership election for the Mayors and Independents (STAN) in 2017 was held on 25 March 2017. The incubent leader Petr Gazdík was the only candidate. Gazdík received 135 of 145 votes and was elected for another term.

The prize consists of a certificate and 300,000 CZK Czech koruna. It is awarded each year on October 28 along with the Czech State Award for Translation.

Filip Král is a Czech ice hockey player. He is currently playing for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League (WHL), having previously played professionally with HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Extraliga, the top league in the country. He was drafted 149th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
