The group stage of the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup was played from 21 July to 7 October 2007. A total of eight teams competed in the group stage. [1]
The 2007 CAF Confederation Cup was the fourth edition of the CAF Confederation Cup. Its schedule began with the preliminary round in late January and mid-February with the second round in March and the third round in April.
In the group stage, each group was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners of each group advanced directly to the final.
A round-robin tournament is a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. A round-robin contrasts with an elimination tournament, in which participants are eliminated after a certain number of losses.

The 2004 Africa Cup of Nations was the 24th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the football championship of Africa (CAF). It was hosted by Tunisia. Just like in 2002, the field of sixteen teams was split into four groups of four. Tunisia won their first title, beating Morocco in the final 2−1. Tunisia participated in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany as the representative from CAF.
The 2011 African Nations Championship was the second edition of the African Nations Championship tournament. Each participating nation was represented mostly by players who play in their respective local divisions. The competition was hosted in Sudan from February 4 to 25, 2011. Tunisia won their first title by defeating Angola in the final 3–0.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, known as the Total2019 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, was the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The competition was held from 21 June to 19 July 2019, as per the decision of the CAF Executive Committee on 20 July 2017 to move the Africa Cup of Nations from January/February to June/July for the first time. The 2018 African Nations Championship qualification was a men's football competition which decided the participating teams of the 2018 African Nations Championship. Only national team players who are playing in their country's own domestic league are eligible to compete in the tournament.
The 2017 CAF Confederation Cup qualifying rounds were played from 10 February to 22 April 2017. A total of 68 teams competed in the qualifying rounds to decide the 16 places in the group stage of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

Benin national football team is a weaker side in the Africa Cup of Nations, and only managed four appearances in the tournament. Benin first appeared in 2004, before qualified again in 2008, 2010 and 2019. While Benin has not been unable to join the top two highest ranked team in AFCON history, nor even win a single match in the competition, Benin managed its best performance in the tournament, during the 2019 AFCON when Benin came to quarter-finals, including a shock win over Morocco after penalty shootout. This means Benin is the first team to reach the quarter-finals of AFCON without ever winning a single competitive match in their participation history.
