The 2007 CONCACAF U-20 Qualifying Tournament was held to determine the four CONCACAF entrants into the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which was hosted by Canada. The tournament final was held in two groups of four with the top two from each group advancing. Group A was held in Panama and Group B was held in Mexico. On January 21, 2007, the United States and Panama qualified to the U-20 World Cup. On February 23, 2007, Mexico and Costa Rica achieved qualification as well.

The 2009 CONCACAF U17 Championship was the football championship tournament for under-17 in the CONCACAF region, and was formatted to determine the four CONCACAF representatives to advance to the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. The 8-team tournament was originally scheduled to be played from April 21 to May 2 and hosted by Mexico at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana. However, the tournament was cancelled on April 27 due to the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. At the time that the tournament was cancelled the group stage had already been played, and the four teams who could qualify to the U-17 World Cup – Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, and the United States – had already done so.

The 2009 CONCACAF U-17 Championship qualification tournaments took place in 2008 to qualify national teams for the 2009 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, which was played in Mexico from 21 April to 9 May 2009.

The 2011 Copa Centroamericana was the eleventh edition of Copa Centroamericana, an international football championship for national teams affiliated with the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) of the CONCACAF region. It took place in Panama from January 14 to January 23, 2011. It was the second time for Panama to host the tournament. On January 23, 2011 Honduras won the cup by defeating Costa Rica 2-1 in the final. The top five teams from this tournament qualified for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The group stage draw was conducted on September 2, 2010 in Panama City.

The 2010 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship was the fifth edition of the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. The tournament was hosted by Guatemala, and all matches were played at the Estadio Cementos Progreso. The United States were the defending champions, having won the 2008 tournament, their second regional championship at the under-20 level. The top three sides at the 2010 tournament earned qualification to the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The tournament was won by the United States, who defeated Mexico in the final, 1–0. Costa Rica secured the final qualification position by defeating Canada in the third place match, 1–0.

In the fourth round of the CONCACAF 2006 World Cup qualification, the six remaining teams from the third round were put in a single group, and played against each other home-and-away. The three teams with most points qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The fourth-placed team, Trinidad and Tobago, advanced to the AFC-CONCACAF playoff against the winner of the fourth round of Asia, Bahrain.

The 2011–12 CONCACAF Champions League group stage were played from August to October 2011. The matchdays were August 16–18, August 23–25, September 13–15, September 20–22, September 27–29, and October 18–20, 2011.

The 2012 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship was the sixth edition of the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. The final tournament was hosted by Panama from 1 to 11 March 2012. All matches were played at the Estadio Rommel Fernández. The top three teams of the 2012 tournament earned qualification to the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The tournament was won by the United States, who defeated Canada in the final, 2–1. Mexico secured the final qualification position by defeating Panama in the third place match, 5–0.

In the CONCACAF fourth round of qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the United States, Costa Rica, and Honduras finished in the top three places and qualified directly for the 2014 World Cup. Mexico finished in fourth place and defeated New Zealand in the CONCACAF – OFC play-off to gain a spot in the World Cup. Mexico finished in fourth place ahead of Panama after the United States scored two goals against Panama in stoppage time in the final match of qualifying; had Panama retained its 2–1 lead, they would have finished in fourth place and eliminated Mexico on goals scored, who had qualified for the previous five World Cups.

The qualifying tournaments to the 2012 CONCACAF Under-20 Women's Championship, the North American continent's youth football championships started in August 2011. The qualification process was divided into the Central American and Caribbean zone. Canada, Mexico and the United States were automatically qualified to the final tournament.
