The 2008 V-League was the 25th season of Vietnam's national football league and the 8th as a professional league. The league was held from January 6, 2008 to August 24, 2008. Petro Vietnam was the league sponsor for the second season (Since 2007).

Vương Tiến Dũng is a Vietnamese football coach. After retiring from his playing career, during which he played for Thể Công and the Vietnamese national side, Vương turned to coaching and coached a number of Vietnamese football clubs.

The 2011 V-League was the 28th season of Vietnam's national football league and the 11th as a professional league.

The 2012 V-League season was the 29th season of Vietnam's national football league and the 12th as a professional league. The season started on 31 December 2011 and finished on 19 August 2012. On 15 December it was announced that the league would change name and would simply be known as the Premier League. Then, it was changed name to Super League.

The football tournament at the 2003 SEA Games was held from 30 November to 12 December in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and Nam Định of Vietnam. The men's tournament was played by U-23 national teams, while the women's tournament had no age limit.
