The 2009 Big East football season was an NCAA football season that was played from September 5, 2009, to January 2, 2010. The Big East Conference consists of 8 football members: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, and West Virginia. Cincinnati won the Big East Championship for the second consecutive year and was invited to the Allstate Sugar Bowl where they lost to Florida 51–24. Overall, the Big East went 4–2 in Bowl Games.
Cincinnati (11-3) was the Big East champions and got the conference's automatic bid into the BCS and went to the FedEx Orange Bowl, losing to ACC champion Virginia Tech 20-7.
Five other Big East teams went to bowl games in 2008, finishing bowl play with a record of 4-2 as a conference. Connecticut (8-5) beat Buffalo 38-20 in the International Bowl. Pittsburgh (9-4) lost to Oregon State 3-0 in the Brut Sun Bowl. Rutgers (8-5) beat North Carolina State 29-23 in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. South Florida (8-5) beat Memphis 41-14 in the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl. And West Virginia (9-4) beat North Carolina 31-30 in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The only two teams not to go to a bowl game were Louisville (5-7) and Syracuse (3-9).
The 2009 Big East Preseason Poll was announced at the Big East Media Day in Newport, RI on August 4. [1] Pittsburgh was chosen as the favorite to win the conference.

On October 18, UConn cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to death during a fight at an on campus dance. [20] Howard had a career-high 11 tackles and forced a 3rd-quarter fumble to earn the game ball just hours before his death.

The Colorado Crush were an arena football team based in Denver, Colorado. They began play as a 2003 Arena Football League expansion team. The Crush played in the Central Division of the American Conference until the Arena Football League suspended operations in 2009. They were last coached by Mike Dailey and owned by a coalition of Denver sports figures led by John Elway.
The Air Force Falcons football program represents the United States Air Force Academy in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. Air Force has been a member of the Mountain West Conference since its founding in 1999. The Falcons play their home games at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Troy Calhoun has been the team's head coach since 2007.
The 2007–08 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University in the 2007–08 college basketball season. The team was led by first-year head coach Keno Davis. In 2006–07, the Bulldogs finished 17–15. Drake improved upon their first winning season since the 1986–1987 season, making their first NCAA tournament appearance since their run to the Elite Eight in 1971 and their first postseason appearance since their National Invitational Tournament appearance in 1986.
NJ-LUSO Parma is an American soccer team based in Denville, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 2007, the team plays in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Mid Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
The 2009–10 Ohio State Buckeyes women's basketball team represented The Ohio State University in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Buckeyes, coached by Jim Foster, successfully defended their Big Ten Conference regular-season and tournament championships. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament, losing in the second round to Mississippi State.
Travis Holmes is an American former professional basketball player who last played for Surrey United of the British Basketball League (BBL). He played college basketball for the Virginia Military Institute Keydets basketball program. He was named to the 2009 Second Team All-Big South Conference.
The 2009–10 Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team represented the University of Georgia in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Lady Bulldogs compete in the Southeastern Conference.
The 2009–10 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's hockey team represented the University of Minnesota in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's hockey season. The Golden Gophers were coached by Brad Frost and played their home games at Ridder Arena. The University of Minnesota hosted the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Ice hockey Tournament's championship game on March 21, 2010 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. It marked the third time that Minneapolis hosted the Frozen Four. The Golden Gophers are a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and attempted to win their fourth NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats women's ice hockey represented Quinnipiac University in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Bobcats were the most improved team in the NCAA. At season's end, the squad had won 19 contests, a 16 win improvement compared to the 2008–09 season, when Quinnipiac won only 3 games. The Bobcats set a school record with conference wins (11), and hosted a postseason game for the first time in the program's history.

Erica Udén Johansson is a Swedish ice hockey player and alternate captain of AIK Hockey Dam in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). She represented Sweden in the women's ice hockey tournaments at the Winter Olympics in 2010, 2014, and 2018. Udén Johansson played college ice hockey in the NCAA with the Quinnipiac Bobcats women's ice hockey program.

LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, New York. The winner of the tournament received the America East Conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. Four teams from the America East conference will compete in the single elimination tournament. The seeds were based upon the teams' regular season conference record.
