LEAGUE CHAMPIONS: Fort Wayne
The 2006 San Francisco Giants season was the Giants' 124th year in Major League Baseball, their 49th year in San Francisco since their move from New York following the 1957 season, and their sixth at AT&T Park. The team finished in third place in the National League West with a 76–85 record, 11½ games behind the San Diego Padres.
The 1994 New York Mets season was the 33rd attempt at a regular season for the Mets. They went 55–58 and finished third in the National League East. They were managed by Dallas Green. They played home games at Shea Stadium. The season was cut short by the 1994 player's strike.
The 2002 San Diego Padres season was the 34th season in franchise history.
The 2005 San Diego Padres season was the 37th season for the San Diego Padres. For the first time since 1998, the Padres qualified for the postseason after six straight losing seasons. The 2005 team is noted as having the weakest record among any team to qualify for the postseason, finishing 82–80, tied with the 1973 New York Mets for the fewest wins ever in a non-shortened year since Major League Baseball expanded to a 162-game season in 1961, and the fewest of any team since 1885. The National League West was weak in 2005, with all teams finishing below the .500 mark except for the San Diego Padres, who only finished two games above the .500 mark. The closest team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, were five games back. Three teams in the Eastern Division finished with better records than San Diego but failed to qualify for the playoffs, such as the Philadelphia Phillies, who won 88 games and won all six of their games against the Padres. There had been some speculation that the Padres would be the first team in MLB history to win a division and finish below .500, but their victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 30 gave them their 81st victory, guaranteeing a split record. They were swept in three games by the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS.
The 1983 San Diego Padres season was the 15th season in franchise history. The team finished with an 81–81 record, their second year in a row finishing 81–81. They scored 653 runs and allowed 653 runs for a run differential of zero, becoming only the second team with a .500 winning percentage and a zero run differential.
The 1990 San Diego Padres season was the 22nd season in franchise history. The team regressed to a 75–87 record. They scored 673 runs and allowed 673 runs for a run differential of zero.
The 1994 San Diego Padres season was the 26th season in franchise history.
The 1969 San Diego Padres season was the inaugural season in franchise history. They joined the National League along with the Montreal Expos via the 1969 Major League Baseball expansion. In their inaugural season, the Padres went 52–110, finishing last in the newly created National League West, 41 games behind the division champion Atlanta Braves. The Padres finished last in the majors as a team in runs scored (468), hits (1,203) and batting average (225).
The 2008 San Diego Padres season was the 40th season in franchise history. The Padres were attempting to win the National League West for the third time in 4 years.
The 1922 Chicago White Sox season was a season in Major League Baseball. The team finished with a 77–77 record, excluding a tied game that was not included in the standings. They finished sixth in the American League, 17 games behind the pennant-winning New York Yankees. The White Sox scored 691 runs and allowed 691 runs for a run differential of zero, becoming the first team to finish with a .500 winning percentage and a zero run differential. This dubious feat was later matched by the 1983 San Diego Padres.
The 2009 New York Mets season was the franchise's 48th season, and the team's first year at Citi Field, which opened on April 13 against the San Diego Padres. The Mets finished with a 70–92 record, as the season was plagued by many injuries.
The 2013 San Diego Padres season was their 45th season in MLB, and their ninth at Petco Park.
The 2014 San Diego Padres season was their 46th season in Major League Baseball (MLB), and their tenth at Petco Park. After finishing with a 76–86 record in 2013, they only managed to improve by just one game in 2014, finishing the season with a 77–85 record. After winning the season opener and starting the season 1–1, the Padres stayed under .500 for the rest of the season.
The 2017 San Diego Padres season was the 49th season of the San Diego Padres franchise in Major League Baseball and the Padres' 14th season at Petco Park. The Padres began the season on April 3 at the Los Angeles Dodgers. They ended the season on October 1 at the San Francisco Giants. They finished the season 71–91 to finish in fourth place in the National League West, 33 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. They missed the playoffs for the 11th straight year.
The 2018 Philadelphia Phillies season was the 136th season in the history of the franchise, its 15th season at Citizens Bank Park, and the first season with manager Gabe Kapler. They improved from their 66–96 season in 2017 by posting an 80–82 record, but missed the postseason for the seventh consecutive season. Kapler had the second-most wins among Phillies managers historically after 100 games (56), and under Kapler, the 2018 team improved its end-of-season won-lost record by 14 games.
The 2018 San Diego Padres season was the 50th season of the San Diego Padres franchise. The Padres played their home games at Petco Park as members of Major League Baseball's National League West.
The 2019 San Diego Padres season was the 51st season of the San Diego Padres franchise. The Padres played their home games at Petco Park as members of Major League Baseball's National League West. On September 21, the Padres fired Andy Green as manager. Bench coach Rod Barajas was promoted to interim manager.
The 2021 San Diego Padres season was the 53rd season of the San Diego Padres franchise. The Padres played their home games at Petco Park as members of Major League Baseball's National League West. The Padres entered the 2021 season expecting to contend for the World Series, having made several major acquisitions in the offseason, and held a playoff position in the Wild Card standings from April to late August. The Padres struggled down the stretch after reaching a season high 66-49 record, going 13-34 the rest of the way. The Padres were eliminated from playoff contention on September 25, and finished the 2021 season with a very disappointing record of 79–83.
The 2022 San Diego Padres season was the 54th season of the San Diego Padres franchise. The Padres play their home games at Petco Park as members of Major League Baseball's National League West.
The 2023 San Diego Padres season was the 55th season of the San Diego Padres franchise. The Padres played their home games at Petco Park as members of Major League Baseball's National League West. The Padres had a record of 82–80.
