The 2015 San Diego Padres season was their 47th season in MLB and their 11th at Petco Park. General Manager A. J. Preller acquired a new starting outfield in Matt Kemp, Justin Upton and Wil Myers, while adding to an already strong bullpen with All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel. The Padres also signed free agent starting pitcher James Shields. [1] [2] San Diego traded away seven of its top 11 prospects, as rated by Baseball America entering the offseason. [2]
After starting the season 32–33 and six games behind in the National League West, the Padres fired manager Bud Black, who had managed the team for eight-plus seasons. Bench coach Dave Roberts filled in as manager for one game until Pat Murphy was named the interim manager. [3] [4] After spending one season as a third base coach for the Diamondbacks, on October 29, 2015, Andy Green was named manager of the San Diego Padres.

Timothy James Stauffer is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins and New York Mets.
Rodrigo Richard Barajas is an American former professional baseball catcher. Barajas served as the interim manager for the San Diego Padres after Andy Green's firing on September 21, 2019. As a player in Major League Baseball (MLB), he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. With the Diamondbacks, he won the 2001 World Series over the then reigning, three-time world champion New York Yankees. Barajas also played for the Mexico national baseball team.
Jason Dean Lane is an American professional baseball former player who is the third base coach for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in MLB for the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres. Originally starting his career as an outfielder, Lane switched positions and became a pitcher.
Cameron Keith Maybin is an American professional baseball broadcaster and former center fielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers, Florida / Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets. He was the tenth overall pick in the 2005 MLB draft by the Tigers and debuted with them in 2007. With the Astros, he won the 2017 World Series.
Carlos José Quentin is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres. In 2008 and 2011, Quentin was selected as an All-Star.
