Amélie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. It was her second major title, having won the Australian Open earlier in the year. Mauresmo also became the first Frenchwoman to win Wimbledon since Suzanne Lenglen in 1925. Henin-Hardenne was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam.
Justine Henin defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2007 US Open. She did not lose a set during the tournament. It was her last major title and final US Open appearance.
Ana Ivanovic defeated Dinara Safina in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2008 French Open. It was her first and only major singles title. With the win, Ivanovic also became the world No. 1; Maria Sharapova, Jelena Janković and Svetlana Kuznetsova were also in contention for the top ranking. Ivanovic dropped only one set during the tournament, to Janković in the semifinals.
Maria Sharapova defeated Ana Ivanovic in the final, 7–5, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2008 Australian Open. It was her third major singles title. She did not lose a set during the tournament or face a tiebreak in any set. Sharapova also became the first Russian woman to win the title. It was Ivanovic's second runner-up finish in as many major finals, though she would win the French Open a few months later.
Defending champion Venus Williams defeated her sister Serena Williams in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. It was her fifth Wimbledon title and seventh major singles title overall. She won the title without losing a set, the second time she did so at a major. The sisters also won the doubles title playing together.

It was her third US Open singles title and ninth major singles title overall. With the win, she regained the world No. 1 singles ranking for the first time since 2003. This was also her second US Open and third major overall won without losing a set during the tournament. Three of the top four seeds were in contention for the No. 1 ranking at the start of the tournament.

Dinara Safina defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the inaugural women's singles tennis title at the 2009 Madrid Open.
Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Dinara Safina in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2009 French Open. It was her second major title, after the 2004 US Open. The final marked the third all-Russian final in major singles history, and the first since the 2004 US Open. This was Safina's third runner-up finish in major finals in as many played. The match was also the conclusion of a series of finals between the pair during that clay court season, as they each claimed the Stuttgart and Rome titles over each other.
