The 2011 season is Bohemian Football Club's 91st season in the League of Ireland and the club's 121st year in existence having played previously in the Irish Football League from 1902 to 1911 and 1912 to 1920. Having finished 2nd in the league last year they club will play in the League of Ireland Premier Division under manager Pat Fenlon. They will also compete in the FAI Cup, the League of Ireland Cup, the Setanta Cup, the Leinster Senior Cup and the Europa League (2011-2012 qualification) this season.

In the 2005 season, Shelbourne finished 3rd in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
In the 2003 season, Shelbourne were crowned League of Ireland Premier Division champions.
During 2010, Bohemians competed in the League of Ireland Premier Division, the FAI Cup, the League of Ireland Cup, the Setanta Cup, the Leinster Senior Cup and the UEFA Champions League. Bohemians had won their 11th league title and their 3rd League Cup in the previous season. This was the club's 120th year in existence.
The 2010 Shamrock Rovers F.C. season was the club's 89th season competing in the League of Ireland and the team's second season under the stewardship of Michael O'Neill. The team finished the season as Premier Division champions, narrowly beating rivals Bohemians to the title by virtue of a better goal difference.
The 2011 FAI Senior Challenge Cup, also known as the 2011 FAI Ford Cup, is the 91st season of the national football competition of the Republic of Ireland. The winners of the competition will earn spots in both the second qualifying round of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League and the 2012 Setanta Sports Cup.

The 2012 season marked the first time Shelbourne competed in the Premier Division since 2006, when as champions, they were demoted due to financial issues. Shelbourne gained promotion by finishing 2nd in the 2011 League of Ireland First Division.

The 2012 Sligo Rovers F.C. season was the club's 68th season competing in the League of Ireland and the team's first season under the management of Ian Baraclough. It was the team's seventh consecutive season in the Premier Division. Sligo Rovers won their first title in 35 years.

The club was managed by Sean McCaffrey, who was in his first season in charge. The club also competed in the FAI Cup, League of Ireland Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup. Dundalk finished the 33-round season in 11th position, requiring them to play a promotion/relegation play-off against Waterford United of the First Division; a tie which they won on aggregate, thus retaining their place in the Premier Division for the 2013 season. Results against Monaghan United F.C. were expunged, after they withdrew from the League mid-season.

The 2019 FAI Cup was the 99th edition of the annual Republic of Ireland's cup competition.Forty teams participated in the competition, including all teams from the Premier Division and First Division. The competition began on 19 April 2019 with the first of five rounds and ended on 3 November 2019 with the final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, a nominally neutral venue, which has hosted the final since 2010.
Dundalk entered the 2014 season having finished as runners-up in 2013. 2014 was Stephen Kenny's second season at the club as manager. It was Dundalk's sixth consecutive season in the top tier of Irish football, their 79th in all, and their 88th in the League of Ireland.
The 2020 League of Ireland season is Bohemian Football Club's 130th year in their history and their 36th consecutive season in the League of Ireland Premier Division since it became the top tier of Irish football. Bohemians are due to participate in both national domestic cup competitions this season, namely the FAI Cup and the EA Sports Cup. Bohemians competed in the UEFA Europa League for the first time in seven years as they qualified with a third-place finish the previous season.
