The 2011 Sri Lanka Premier League was a postponed Twenty20 cricket league. It was scheduled as the first edition of the new Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka, from 19 July to 4 August. It was postponed until 2012, which was held as the 2012 Sri Lanka Premier League, after problems due to allegations of corruption and incompetence by Sri Lanka Cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had also decided not to allow Indian players to play in the tournament. [1] [2] [3]
The proposed tournament included seven teams representing the provinces of Sri Lanka. The teams were to be captained by six national captains and a former Sri Lanka vice-captain. The tournament was to feature over 30 international cricketers and be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.
Unlike other cricket leagues, the Sri Lanka Premier League did not have city-based teams but instead provincial teams to allow an entire province to associate themselves with a team and thus create a bigger following for the tournament. Seven teams were established in seven provinces, with three being created in 2011.[ which? ] Aside from the Nagenahira Nagas and the Uthura Oryxes, each of these teams played in a previous Inter-Provincial tournament. [4] North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces did not have teams for the first season. Teams for all the provinces were limited to ensure competitiveness for the future. [5]
All of the matches in the tournament were to be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

A few teams had a Sri Lankan captain, Sanath Jayasuriya (Ruhuna), Mahela Jayawardene (Wayamba), Kumar Sangakkara (Kandurata) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (Basnahira); for Nagenahira and Uthura, Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi and New Zealand former skipper Daniel Vettori have been chosen respectively. The league will featured almost 35 international cricketing stars and was the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan national selectors and cricket authorities agreed to blood as many youngsters and almost 70 Sri Lankan cricketers would be registered in the seven team tournament. Almost all Pakistani national cricketers were invited to play in the SLPL. In addition to that International stars like Chris Gayle and the Bravo brothers (Dwayne and Darren), Herschelle Gibbs, David Warner, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Kevin O'Brien, Daniel Christian, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Vettori and Shaun Tait would have been seen in action on Sri Lankan soil. Salaries would have been lower than the IPL, with the highest at $30,000, with Shahid Afridi getting $35,000. Shoaib Akhtar was also included among the international players who are take parting in SLPL. But Later on he has decided to pull out of SLPL due to personal reasons. [7]

All 24 matches were planned to be telecast live to every cricketing nation. [11]
Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi, known as Shahid Afridi, is a Pakistani cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. Afridi is widely considered as one of the most popular and destructive cricketers. An all-rounder, Afridi bowled leg spin and was recognized for his aggressive batting. Afridi was also a world record holder, holding the record for the fastest ODI century, in 37 deliveries. The record stood for 17 years before being broken by Corey Anderson. He also holds the record for having hit the most sixes in the history of ODI cricket. Bowling-wise Afridi, who considers himself a better bowler than batsman, has taken 395 wickets in ODI and 48 Test wickets. In addition he has also taken 98 T20I wickets.
Separamadu Lasith Malinga also known as "Slinga Malinga", is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest limited overs bowlers of all time. Malinga captained the Sri Lankan 2014 T20 World Cup winning side and he is the highest wicket taker in IPL and is the only bowler to take 4 wickets in 4 balls twice in international cricket .Malinga is a right-arm fast bowler that is commonly used as a specialist death bowler, and is well known for his distinctive round-arm action, sometimes referred to as a sling action, which leads to his nickname "Slinga Malinga". Malinga announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 14 September 2021.
Christopher Henry Gayle, OD is a Jamaican cricketer who plays international cricket for the West Indies. A destructive batter, Gayle is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have played Twenty20 cricket, and by some as the best ever. Gayle played a crucial role in the West Indies teams that won 2004 ICC Champions Trophy, 2012 ICC World Twenty20 and 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

Manvinder Singh Bisla is an Indian cricketer. He is a wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman who currently plays for Goa. Bisla is one of the lesser known of the wicketkeeper batsman that Indian cricket unearthed from the junior and India-A ranks in the last decade, the others being Ajay Ratra, Parthiv Patel, M.S Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik. Bisla was the stand-in captain of the U-19 test team during their tour to England in 2002 season. The match ended in a draw.
The Deccan Chargers was a franchise cricket team based in the city of Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. The team was one of the eight founding members of the IPL in 2008 and was owned by Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd. After finishing last in the first season of the IPL, they won the second season held in South Africa in 2009 under the captaincy of former Australian wicket-keeper and batsman Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was the captain of the team for the first three seasons of the IPL & Rohit Sharma as his Deputy. From the fourth season, Kumar Sangakkara led the team and Cameron White played as his deputy. The team was coached by Darren Lehmann, former Australian cricketer.

SLC Super Provincial Twenty20, earlier known as SLC Inter-Provincial Twenty20, is a Twenty20 domestic Cricket competition in Sri Lanka held by Sri Lanka Cricket. It is one of three Inter-Provincial Cricket tournaments. Sri Lanka used to have a Twenty20 Tournament which was conducted from 2004–2008 and was held between the clubs in Sri Lanka. From 2008 to 2011 the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 became the mainstream domestic Twenty20 competition in Sri Lanka. Wayamba elevens has been in all finals and won the first three tournaments, while Ruhuna won the final tournament. It was replaced by the Sri Lanka Premier League in 2012, but later revived in 2016, as Super Fours Provincial T20 Tournament. but it was replaced by SLC Twenty20 Tournament and SLC T20 League
The Nagenahira Nagas was a franchise cricket team that took part in Sri Lanka Premier League, representing Eastern Province. Varun Beverages Private Limited purchased the team for $3.22 million in 2012. They was owned for seven years, after which a new agreement may be negotiated. They named Shahid Afridi as their icon player in late June.
The 2012 Sri Lanka Premier League season was the debut edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League, established by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2011. The season ran from 11 to 31 August 2012. The tournament was originally scheduled to begin in 2011 but it was postponed to 2012, with the former Inter-Provincial Twenty20 taking its place.

Wayamba United was a franchise cricket team that took part in Sri Lanka Premier League, representing North Western Province. Wadhawan Holdings Private Limited purchased the team for $5.02 million in 2012 for a seven-year contract.
The Uva Next was a franchise cricket team that took part in Sri Lanka Premier League, representing Uva. Success Sports Private Limited purchased the team for $4.6 million in 2012. They was owned for seven years, after which a new agreement may be negotiated.
Royal Challengers Bangalore were one of the ten teams that took part in the 2011 Indian Premier League. They were captained by former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori and coached by Ray Jennings. They finished as runners-up of the tournament after losing to Chennai Super Kings in the final. With this, they qualified for the 2011 Champions League Twenty20, where they again finished runners-up after losing the final to the Mumbai Indians.

Chathuranga de Silva was educated at St. Aloysius College, Galle, where he started his cricket career. his younger brother wanidu hasaranga.cricketer plays for limited over internationals for Sri Lanka. He is primarily a left-handed batsman but bowls handy slow left-arm orthodox. He has represented the Sri Lanka cricket team in limited over international matches.
The 2002 ICC Champions Trophy was a cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka in 2002. It was the third edition of the ICC Champions Trophy – the first two having been known as the ICC Knock Out Tournaments. The tournament was due to be held in India, but was switched to Sri Lanka when an exemption from tax in India was not granted. Fifteen matches were to be played in the tournament including two semi-finals and a final match.[1] All the matches were played in Colombo at two grounds: R. Premadasa Stadium and Sinhalese Sports Club Ground. It was the first time that the teams of all International Cricket Council (ICC) member nations visited Sri Lanka to participate in a cricket tournament.[1]

The Kashmir Premier League is a professional Twenty20 league founded in 2021. The league consists of six franchises; five teams representing the five major cities in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan while one team is representing the overseas Kashmiris. The teams play in a single round-robin tournament with the top four teams qualify for the playoffs and ultimately for the final.
The 2021 Kashmir Premier League was the inaugural season of the Kashmir Premier League which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The tournament featured six teams and was held from 6 August 2021 to 17 August 2021 in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan. The opening ceremony and first match of the tournament were held at the Muzaffarabad Stadium on 6 August 2021.
