The Arizona State Sun Devils are the athletic teams that represent Arizona State University. ASU has nine men's and eleven women's varsity teams competing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The mascot was adopted in 1946; earlier nicknames were the Normals and later, the Bulldogs. The Sun Devil mascot, Sparky, was designed by Bert Anthony, a former Disney illustrator. ASU's chief rival is the University of Arizona Wildcats, and both universities' athletics departments compete against each other in the Territorial Cup Series.

They lost in the quarterfinals in the 2014 Pac-12 Conference women's basketball tournament to USC. They were invited to the 2014 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament which they defeated Vanderbilt in the first round before falling to Notre Dame in the second round.

They received at-large bid of the NCAA women's tournament where they defeated Ohio in the first round, Arkansas–Little Rock in the second round before getting defeated by Florida State in the sweet sixteen to end their season.

The Sun Devils finished with a record for 24–9, 12–6 to finish in third place in Pac-10 play. ASU received a bid to the NCAA tournament as a #5 seed. There, they defeated Ball State and Manhattan to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. In the Sweet Sixteen, they lost to the #1 seed Kentucky, 97–73.

They finished the season 20–11, 11–7 in Pac-12 play to finish in a tie for third place. They were set to take on Washington State in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 tournament. However, the remainder of the tournament, and all other postseason tournaments, were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the 2022–2023 season, the Sun Devils went 23-12 overall and 11–9 in Pac-12 play to qualify for the NCAA Tournament where they were an 11 seed. They defeated the University of Nevada to get to the Round of 64 versus TCU. During the regular season, ASU had big wins over #20 Michigan and #7 Arizona, the latter being beaten on a 60-foot buzzer beater by Desmond Cambridge Jr. They finished tied for 5th place in the Pac-12.
