The 2011–12 Sporting Clube da Praia season were in the island and top division of Cape Verdean football. They would be regional champions and qualified into the national championship and won their 9th title for the club. [1] [2]
The club scored a total of 56 goals. Of which 36 was scored in the Santiago South League and 20 in the national championships, 15 in the regular season and 5 in the playoffs. Their total points was 47 for the island and 11 in the national championships.
The 2011-12 season started 3rd behind Boavista and Académca, then took Boavista's position, Sporting scored low goal matches in the first two rounds, after defeating Celtic 4-1, they took the number one spot at the third round and held it until Sporting's 1-2 loss to Desportivo on February 18 and that position was taken by Desportivo and Sporting was second until Sporting defeated Ribeira Grande 3-0 in the 13th round on the last day of March. Desportivo's loss to Vitória meant Sporting took the number one spot for the remainder of the season and finished with 47 points and had 15 wins, 2 draws, a loss and scored 36 goals, the region's second highest behind Desportivo's 46. Around that time, Beto Cardoso as coach left the club for two years, Alex took over for a few months. [1]
Their highest point of 47 would be the second highest for the club behind 49 made in 2005, a season later, it became the third highest behind their 2013 result of 48 points. Since 2017, this total is now the fourth highest for the club as their 55 became the first made in the 2016-17 season.

Sporting Praia qualified as champions and faced the cup winner ADESBA and lost the title for the season after losing in the penalty shootout as the match ended in a draw.
The club achieved entry into the national championships after winning the regional title of Santiago South, this was also their eighth consecutive.
The club participated in Group A and finished first with 11 points 3 wins and 2 draws and qualified into the playoffs. [1] [2]
Their first match was a victory over Sal's Juventude 6-1 which was the highest scoring match of the national season, another win which was the club's second was made where they defeated Brava's Académica 5-0, the first four match that had 5 goals, second highest in the nation, of which the first two were scored in the second round. Their last win was made as they defeated Académica from Fogo on May 19. A draw with São Vicente's Batuque was made where no goals were scored, the last match had a two-goal draw with Estrela dos Amadores of Tarrafal, winner of the north of the island. [1]

Sporting Praia challenged Académica Porto Novo from Santo Antão South and won all two legs, the first one was 3-0, the second one 1-0. Sporting climbed up to the finals and made a goal draw with São Nicolau's Atlético Ribeira Brava, the second draw was scoreless and won the match under the away goals rule and claimed their 9th title. [1] At the time, Sporting Praia continued to possessed the most national titles for two years when Mindelense surpassed Sporting Praia's totals in 2014 with 10. Sporting Praia's next national title would be in 2017.

Associação Académica da Praia is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Santiago Island League (South) in Cape Verde. It is played along with Praia's three other famous teams in Estádio da Varzea, the club also practices at the stadium and over a kilometer east in Achada Grande Frente. Its current president is Kiki and manager is Janito Carvalho who coached Sporting Praia in the previous season.
Sporting Clube da Praia, short form: Sporting Praia is a professional football club that plays in the Santiago South Premier Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the capital city of Praia in the island of Santiago, one of the unrelegated clubs in the south of the island along with three of the city's four historically mightiest clubs including Académica, Boavista and CD Travadores. Sporting has won six championships since independence and a few before independence. The first title was won in the summer of 1962 before independence. Sporting recently won the 2017 national title. Its current president is Carlos Daniel Caetano and its manager is Lito, who once played for Portuguese clubs as footballer.
Boavista Futebol Clube is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santiago Island South Zone League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Praia in the island of Santiago. The team has only reached a few of these games before and after independence. Its current president is Luis Manuel Semedo who once coached Boa Vista's Académica Operária. and its manager is Nelito Antunes.

Also Sporting Praia qualified in the 2017 Santiago South Super Cup and faced Os Garridos, runner up in the regional cup competitions as Sporting was also cup winner, Sporting would win that title.
