The 2017 Santiago South Cup final was the final of the 2016–17 Santiago South Cup. [1]

The 2016-17 Santiago South Cup season was the competition of the regional football cup in the southern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. The season started on 25 November and finished on 7 May. The cup competition was organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association. All the matches are played at Estádio da Várzea. Sporting Clube da Praia won their recent cup title. As Sporting Praia were also 2016-17 champions on April 8, Garridos achieved qualification into the upcoming 2017 Santiago South Super Cup, its qualification status was runner-up.

RTC (Cape Verde)

The Radiotelevisão Caboverdiana is Cape Verde's first radio and television station broadcasting local programs from Cape Verde, Portugal and Brazil as well as the rest of the world especially France. It is a publicly owned company and enterprise and is located in the Capeverdean capital city of Praia, in the southern part in the middle of Achada Santo António RTC also has a few buildings, it also has offices in São Vicente, Sal, São Filipe on Fogo Island and Assomada in Santa Catarina. The building size is very small, only like local affiliates in North America as well as Latin America, Australia and Europe. Neither teams qualified into the 2017 Cape Verdean Cup which has now became cancelled.

Sporting Praia started at the First Round while Garridos started at the Round of 8.

Yet again, it is another season where clubs, participants of the Regional Premier Division competed at the cup final.

Sporting Praia had reached the regional cup final around 10+ times, winning about ten of them. The last time they won a championship title was last season in 2014 where they defeated Tchadense. Os Garridos never played a regional cup final, also being the only club outside the municipality of Praia to compete. [1]
