The 2012 Epsom Derby (known as the Investec Derby for sponsorship reasons) was the 233rd annual running of the Derby horse race. It took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on 2 June 2012.

The race was won by Camelot, the 8/13 favourite ridden by jockey Joseph O'Brien and trained by his father Aidan O'Brien. [1] [2] [3]

As usual, in attendance at Epsom was Queen Elizabeth II to mark the start of a national holiday weekend celebrating her Diamond Jubilee as per official plans announced twelve months prior. [4]

Camelot (horse) British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse

Camelot is a British-bred, Irish-trained thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the leading European two-year-olds of 2011 and won the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster. He was made the winter favourite for the 2012 Guineas and Epsom Derby. On his three-year-old debut, Camelot won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and followed up by winning the Derby at Epsom and the Irish Derby at the Curragh. His bid for the Triple Crown failed when he finished runner-up to Encke in the St Leger.

2015 Epsom Derby

The 2015 Epsom Derby was the 236th annual running of the Derby horse race and took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on 6 June 2015. The race was won by the favourite, Golden Horn, a British-bred bay colt, owned by Anthony Oppenheimer, trained in Newmarket, Suffolk by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori. The colt's win was the first for his owner, the second for Dettori and the second for Gosden.

The 1984 Epsom Derby was the 205th annual running of the Derby horse race. It took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on 6 June 1984. It was the first edition of the race to be commercially sponsored and was known as the Ever Ready Derby. The sponsorship meant that the first prize of £227,680 was the biggest in the history of the race.

The 2019 Epsom Derby was the 240th annual running of the Derby horse race and took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on 1 June 2019. The race was sponsored by Investec. The winner was the Coolmore Stud's bay colt Anthony Van Dyck, ridden by Seamie Heffernan and trained at Ballydoyle in Ireland by Aidan O'Brien.
