The 2013 Honkbal Hoofdklasse season began on Thursday, April 11. [1] Mampaey The Hawks from Dordrecht competed in the Hoofdklasse for the first time. Sparta/Feyenoord was relegated at the end of the 2012 season but was declared bankrupt by a Rotterdam court on November 22, 2012 [2] and did not compete in the Overgangsklasse.

The Honkbal Hoofdklasse is the highest level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. It is an eight-team league that plays a 42-game schedule and is overseen by the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB).
HCAW, in full Honkbalclub Allen Weerbaar, is a Dutch baseball and softball club from Bussum. As of 2021 the club numbers about 400 members, including 270 players, making it one of the largest baseball and softball clubs in the Netherlands. The club's top teams all play in their equivalent Dutch major league.
Kinheim is a baseball and softball team based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The title sponsor of the club is currently Corendon so that the official name of the team is Corendon Kinheim.

Marek Leszek Deska is a Polish-Canadian professional baseball player who began his baseball career in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and as of 2007, is playing in the Dutch Major League for Mediamonks RCH. Upon his first start, which was against Instant Holland Almere '90 on May 20, 2007, Deska became the first player in history to play in the highest Dutch league with a Polish passport. Deska is a right-handed pitcher and started his professional baseball career with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the Intercounty Major Baseball League.
