Pioniers is a baseball and softball team based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The club is currently sponsored by Worldwide Pharma Logistics BV, and the team is officially called Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers. [1] Under a previous sponsorship, the team had been called the Vaessen Pioniers. [2]
The team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. The club's most successful season was 1997, when it reached the Holland Series for the first time by beating reigning champions DOOR Neptunus in the play-offs. In the Holland Series, it claimed a 3-2 victory over Mr. Cocker HCAW, winning the Dutch championship. In 2006, the Pioniers finished third in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse and, just like in 1997, upset Neptunus in the play-offs, advancing to the 2006 Holland Series. [3] In that series they twice took the series lead, but eventually lost to Kinheim 3 games to 2.
The team attempted to attract Major League Baseball regular season games for the opening of its new stadium, Sportpark Pioniers, in 2014. The stadium, located close to Schipol Airport, can temporarily expand to accommodate 30,000 fans. [4] [5]

SV Amsterdam Pirates, commonly referred to as Amsterdam Pirates, is a Dutch baseball and softball organization based in Amsterdam that plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse. It was founded as an expansion of the football club SV Rap on 17 February 1959 by Loek Loevendie. In the first years it was known as the RAP Pirates, but after a few years the club changed its name according to American tradition and became the Amsterdam Pirates.
The Honkbal Hoofdklasse is the highest level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. It is an eight-team league that plays a 42-game schedule and is overseen by the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB).
