2014 IWRF World Championship was the 6th international world wheelchair rugby competition, which took place between August 4 to August 10. The championships were contested between the world's twelve top national teams and was held at the Arena Fyn at Odense Congress Center in Odense, Denmark. The tournament was won by Australia, their first title. [1]
As winners, Australia took the first slot for the wheelchair rugby tournament at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio. [2]
Twelve teams contested the 2014 IWRF World Championship. The preliminary rounds consisted of a group stage where the teams were split into two leagues which were contested as a round-robin. This was then followed by a round of crossover matches that determined the semi-finalists.

Wheelchair rugby is a team sport for athletes with a disability. It is practiced in over twenty-five countries around the world and is a summer Paralympic sport.
Wheelchair rugby at the 2012 Summer Paralympics was held in the Basketball Arena, London from 5 September to 9 September. There was one event where 8 teams competed. Though a mixed gender event the vast majority of competitors at the games were male.
The IWRF European Championship or IWRF European Zone Championship is the European wheelchair rugby championships that take place every two years between national teams of the continents. The European Championship is also a qualifying tournament for the IWRF World Championships and the Paralympic Games.
Jason Lees, is a wheelchair rugby player from Victoria and was a member of the Australian Steelers that won the gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics and competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Ryley Batt, is an Australian wheelchair rugby player. He has won two gold, one silver medal and one bronze medal at six Paralympic Games.
Ryan Scott, is a Paralympic wheelchair rugby competitor from Australia. In four Paralympics, Scott has won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Andrew Harrison, is a wheelchair rugby player. He has won gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics. and competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Christopher Adam Bond is an Australian wheelchair rugby player. He has won gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics and a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Jayden Warn is an Australian wheelchair rugby player. He won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics as a member of the Australian Steelers and competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Michael "Mick" Ozanne is an Australian wheelchair rugby player. He represented the Steelers at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.

2015 IWRF European Championship was the 10th international European wheelchair rugby competition, taken place between 15 September to 19 September. The championships was contested between Europe's eight top national teams and was held at the Pajulahti Sports Institute in Nastola, Finland. The tournament was won by Great Britain, their fifth title.
Brazil competed in the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, as host country, from 7 September to 18 September 2016.
Zak Madell is a Canadian wheelchair rugby player, classified as impairment sport class 3.5, who made his international debut at the 2011 Americas qualification Tournament. He has since participated at London Paralympic Games, at 2014 IWRF World Championship in Odense, Denmark, and Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games.
The Japan national wheelchair rugby team (日本全国車椅子ラグビーチーム) represents Japan in international wheelchair rugby. Japan is the third most successful team in the Asia-Oceania region, finishing outside the medal places only once in eight appearances at the IWRF Asia-Oceania Championship. Japan have won the tournament once, in 2015 and are also the 2014 Asian Para Games champions. They have reached six Summer Paralympics, winning the gold medal at the 2024 Games in Paris.
2013 IWRF European Championship was the 9th international European wheelchair rugby competition, taken place between 10 August - 17 August. The championships was contested between Europe's twelve top national teams and was held at the Pajulahti Sports Institute in Antwerp, Belgium. The tournament was won by Sweden, their fourth title.
The 2018 IWRF World Championship was the 7th international championship for wheelchair rugby. It was held in Sydney, Australia at the State Sports Centre and Genea Netball Centre in Sydney Olympic Park from August 5 to August 10. The tournament was won by Japan, their first title.
The Wheelchair rugby tournament at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan was the seventh edition of Wheelchair rugby as a Paralympic sport since its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta. The competition was hosted at the Yoyogi National Stadium and was held from 25 to 29 August 2021.
