2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group B

Group B of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations was played from 18 January until 26 January in Equatorial Guinea. The group consisted of Zambia, Tunisia, Cape Verde, and DR Congo. [1] Tunisia and DR Congo advanced as group winners and runners-up respectively, while Cape Verde and Zambia were eliminated.

Zambia vs DR Congo

Zambia opened the scoring inside two minutes, as Chisamba Lungu controlled Robert Kidiaba's punch outside the area, allowing Given Singuluma to score with his right foot. Yannick Bolasie equalized for DR Congo in the 66th minute, as he shot home from inside the penalty area from Cedrick Mabwati's pass. [2] [3]

Tunisia vs Cape Verde

Tunisia opened the scoring in the 70th minute, as Ali Maâloul's cross was converted by Mohamed Ali Manser at the far post. Cape Verde equalized eight minutes later through Héldon's penalty after he was brought down by Syam Ben Youssef at the edge of the penalty area. [5] [6]

Zambia vs Tunisia

Zambia took the lead in the 60th minute, when Emmanuel Mayuka scored home from Rainford Kalaba's lofted pass. Tunisia equalized ten minutes later after Syam Ben Youssef flicked a corner to Ahmed Akaïchi to score from close range. They completed the comeback in the 89th minute, as Yassine Chikhaoui headed in Youssef Msakni's cross. [8] [9]

Cape Verde vs DR Congo

Both teams played to their second consecutive draw. DR Congo lost their captain Youssouf Mulumbu to injury in the first half. Cape Verde had chances to win at the end of the match, but had their shots saved by opposing goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba. [11] [12]

DR Congo vs Tunisia

Tunisia took the lead in the 31st minute, as Yassine Chikhaoui's shot was deflected and Ahmed Akaïchi headed the ball in. DR Congo equalized in the 66th minute, after Dieumerci Mbokani headed down a long ball for Jeremy Bokila to score. The result was enough for Tunisia to win the group, while DR Congo also qualified as runners-up, ahead of Cape Verde on goals scored. [17] [18]

Group C of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations was played from 19 January until 27 January in Equatorial Guinea. The group consisted of Ghana, Algeria, South Africa, and Senegal. Ghana and Algeria advanced as group winners and runners-up respectively, while Senegal and South Africa were eliminated.

Group D of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations was played from 20 January until 28 January in Equatorial Guinea. The group consisted of Ivory Coast, Mali, Cameroon, and Guinea. Ivory Coast and Guinea advanced as group winners and runners-up respectively, while Mali and Cameroon were eliminated.

The knockout stage of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations was the second and final stage of the competition, following the group stage. It began on 31 January with the round of 16 and ended on 8 February 2015 with the final held at the Estadio de Bata in Bata. A total of 8 teams advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament.

The second round of CAF matches for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification was played from 11 to 17 November 2015.

Group B of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 14 to 22 January 2024. The group consisted of Egypt, Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations</span> Participation of Tunisia in a competition

Tunisia has participated in the Africa Cup of Nations 21 times, and holds the record for the number of consecutive participations with 16 times, as the team has not been absent from the competition since the 1994 edition on its home soil. The first participation was in the 1962 edition in Ethiopia. He played his first match on 14 January 1962 and lost to the host country team 2–4 in the semi-final. However, Tunisia beat Uganda 3–0 in the third place match to win the bronze medal. Tunisia hosted the event for the first time during the 1965 edition, where the team reached the final and lost to the defending champions Ghana 0–2 after extra time to add the silver medal.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tunisia at the African Nations Championship</span> Participation of Tunisia in a competition

Tunisia has participated in two editions of the African Nations Championship. In the 2009 edition, she is represented by the olympic team, under the management of Mondher Kebaier. Tunisia is eliminated there in the qualification phase. In 2011, under the leadership of Sami Trabelsi, Tunisia qualified for the finals and won the championship by beating Angola in the final. In 2014, placed under the direction of Nabil Maâloul, she was eliminated in the qualification phase. In the 2016 edition, under the leadership of Henryk Kasperczak, Tunisia qualified for the finals, but Hatem Missaoui led the team in Rwanda. Tunisia was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Mali. In the next edition, the Tunisian Football Federation announced that Tunisia will not participate in the 2018 African Nations Championship due to the participation of the first team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Qualification for the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations began with the first round during the week of 18–26 October 2021 and concluded with the second during the week of 14–23 February 2022. For the first time in the tournament's history, 12 teams, including hosts (Morocco), qualified to play in the group stages.

Cameroon are one of Africa's major forces in the Africa Cup of Nations. Cameroon won its first tournament in 1984, Cameroon emerged and became a fearsome power of the tournament, winning the tournament again in 2000 and 2002.

Ivory Coast is one of Africa's major forces in the Africa Cup of Nations. Ivory Coast has won the tournament three times, most recently as hosts in 2023. They previously won in 1992 and 2015. Ivory Coast has also finished as runner up twice, in 2006 and 2012.
