The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah and Washington along with the Southern state of Texas.
Pan American Center is a multi–purpose arena in Las Cruces, New Mexico, located on the campus of New Mexico State University. The arena has a current seating capacity of 12,515 people.
The 2007 WAC men's basketball tournament was March 6–10 in the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The winners of the tournament were the second-seeded New Mexico State Aggies, the host team. Regular season champion #10 Nevada was upset in the semifinals by Utah State.

The Aggies, led by ninth year head coach Marvin Menzies, played their home games at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico and were members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 23–11, 13–1 in WAC play to win the WAC regular season championship. They defeated UMKC to advance to the championship game of the WAC Tournament where they lost to Cal State Bakersfield. As a regular season conference champion who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Saint Mary's.

They finished the season 28–6, 11–3 in WAC play to finish in a tie for second place. They defeated Chicago State, UMKC, and Cal State Bakersfield to win the WAC Tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the First Round to Baylor.

The Aggies, led by seventh year head coach Mark Trakh, played their home games at the Pan American Center and were members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 24–7, 14–0 in WAC play to win the regular season WAC championship. They defeated UMKC and Seattle to be champions of the WAC Women's Tournament. They received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Stanford. In that game, the Aggies nearly pulled off the monumental upset, leading 38-31 at halftime. The Cardinal cut the lead to one at the end of the third quarter before taking the lead for good halfway through the fourth.

The 2018 Western Athletic Conference Softball tournament will be held at New Mexico State Softball Complex on the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico from May 9 through May 12, 2018. The winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. All games will be streamed online on the WAC Digital Network with Adam Young and Mary Kay Mauro on the call.
Brian Green is an American baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Washington State Cougars. He played college baseball at Riverside City College, Chapman University, and New Mexico State University between 1991 to 1994. He then served as the head coach of the New Mexico State Aggies (2015–2019). In 2019, he was hired at Washington State.

They are led by head coach Dan Majerle in his sixth season at Grand Canyon. The Antelopes play their home games at the GCU Arena in Phoenix, Arizona as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 10–6 in WAC play to finish in third place. They defeated Seattle and Utah Valley to advance to the championship game of the WAC Tournament where they lost to New Mexico State. They were invited to the College Basketball Invitational where they lost in the first round to West Virginia.

The Aggies, led by second-year head coach Chris Jans, play their home games at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the regular season 27–4 and 15–1 in WAC play to win the WAC regular season championship. In the WAC Tournament, they defeated Chicago State, Texas–Rio Grande Valley, and Grand Canyon to become WAC Tournament champions. They received the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where they lost in the first round to Auburn. They also set a school record for wins in a season and won 30 games for the first time in team history.
The 2019 Western Athletic Conference Softball tournament was held at GCU Softball Stadium on the campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona from May 8 through May 11, 2019. All six eligible softball teams competed as part of the tournament. Cal Baptist was ineligible to participate as they were in year one of the four year reclassification process.

They finished the season 25–6, 16–0 in WAC play to win the WAC regular season championship. They were set to be the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the WAC Tournament cancellation, they were awarded the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. However, the NCAA Tournament was also cancelled due to the same outbreak.
