The 2016 Asian Taekwondo Championships were the 22nd edition of the Asian Taekwondo Championships, and was scheduled from April 18 to 20, 2016 at the Marriott Convention Center Grand Ballroom in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. [1]

Chen Zhong is a retired Chinese taekwondo competitor who represented her country at international level for more than 10 years, including three consecutive Summer Olympic Games. She won China's first Olympic gold medal in taekwondo at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and successfully defended her title at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but did not make it past the quarter-final round.

Donald David von Geisler III is a retired Filipino taekwondo athlete of German-American descent, who represented the Philippines in the Summer Olympic Games in the years 2000 and 2004. He is a 1998 Asian Games and World Cup Taekwondo Silver medalist, and won a gold medal for the men's lightweight division at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games held in Pasay, Philippines before his retirement.

The Asian Taekwondo Championships are the Asian senior championships in Taekwondo, first held in South Korea in 1973. The event is held every two years and is organized by the Asian Taekwondo Union, the continental affiliate of World Taekwondo, which organises and controls Olympic style taekwondo.

Hadi Saei is an Iranian councilor and former taekwondo athlete who became the most successful Iranian athlete in Olympic history and the most titled champion in this sport by winning 9 world class titles . Earlier in his career and in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Saei had won the Bronze medal. He was elected as member of City Council of Tehran in 2006 local elections and was reelected in 2013 but lost the 2017 election. He is one of the three most medal winners olympians in the sport of Taekwondo.

Bianca Cook, also known as Bianca Walkden is a British taekwondo athlete and Olympian. She is a three-time World champion, twice World Grand Prix champion, four-time European champion and a double Olympic medallist.

Roberto "Kitoy" Cruz is a Filipino taekwondo practitioner. He is the most bemedalled taekwondo player in international competition for the Philippines. He competed in the 1990s and was at the tail-end of a long illustrious career when he competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He currently serves as one of the national coaches for the country.

The 2016 Asian Qualification Tournament for Rio Olympic Games was held from April 16 to 17, 2016 at the Marriot Convention Center Grand Ballroom in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. The top two athletes from each weight division qualified for the Olympics. 98 athletes from 36 Asian countries entered the qualification tournament.

Mirhashem Hosseini is an Iranian taekwondo competitor. He won gold medals at the 2016 Asian championships, 2017 Universiade and 2018 Asian Games, placing second at the 2017 World Championships. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Saleh Salah El-Sharabaty is a Jordanian taekwondo athlete and a member of the Jordanian Taekwondo team where he competes in the -80kg weight.. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, he won silver and thus became only the second Jordanian to win an Olympic medal. Previously, he won the bronze medal on the welterweight division (80 kg) at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ng Ming Wei is a Singaporean taekwondo athlete and internet personality. He won a Kyorugi gold medal in the 2017 Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships Men's -58 kg, becoming the first Singaporean to do so. He also won a bronze medal in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games Men's Under 54 kg.

Bouma Ferimata Coulibaly is an Ivorian taekwondo practitioner. At the African Taekwondo Championships she won four medals: the silver medal in 2016, 2018 and 2021 and a bronze medal in 2014.

Pauline Louise Lopez is a Filipino taekwondo practitioner. She is a two-time gold medalist at the Southeast Asian Games and a bronze medalist at the Asian Games.

Mariska Halinda is an Indonesian taekwondo practitioner. She is a two-time gold medalist at the Southeast Asian Games.

Jasur Baykuziyev is an Uzbekistani taekwondo practitioner. In 2014, he won the gold medal in the men's 87 kg event at the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea. In 2015, he won the silver medal in the men's middleweight event at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships held in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Dejan Georgievski is a Macedonian professional taekwondo practitioner who represents North Macedonia internationally in the World Taekwondo Tournaments in the men's heavyweight class. He is an Olympic silver medalist in the men's +80 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 European Taekwondo Championships</span>

The 2022 European Taekwondo Championships, the 25th edition of the European Taekwondo Championships, was held in Manchester, United Kingdom at the Manchester Regional Arena from 19 to 22 May 2022.

The 1982 Asian Taekwondo Championships were the 5th edition of the Asian Taekwondo Championships, and were held in Singapore from 9 to 11 December, 1982.
