The Australian women's national basketball team is nicknamed the Opals, after the brightly coloured gemstone common to the country. From 1994 onwards, the Opals have been consistently competitive and successful having won nine medals at official FIBA international tournaments, highlighted by a gold medal winning performance at the 2006 World Championship in Brazil. At the now-defunct regional Oceania Championship for Women, the Opals won 15 titles. Effective in 2017, FIBA combined its Oceanian and Asian zones for official senior competitions; following this change, the Opals compete in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup.
The Australia national netball team, also known as the Australian Diamonds, represent Netball Australia in international netball tournaments such as the INF Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Constellation Cup, the Netball Quad Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series. They have also represented Australia at the World Games. Australia made their Test debut in 1938. As of 2021, Australia have been World champions on 11 occasions and Commonwealth champions on 4 occasions. They are regularly ranked number one in the INF World Rankings.
The 2013 Women's Oceania Handball Championship was the sixth edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, held on 26 and 27 April 2013 at Wellington, New Zealand.

The first is a Beach Handball nationals competition and the second is the Australia Handball Club Championships featuring the state champions for Handball. The winner of the Handball Club Championships qualifies to represent Australia in the Oceania Handball Champions Cup.
The Oceania Youth Handball Championship is an Under 19 for Boys and Under 18 for Girls handball tournament organised by the Oceania Continent Handball Federation. The winners of these competition qualify for the IHF Men's Youth World Championship and IHF Women's Youth World Championship respectively.
The 2015 Australian Handball Club Championship is split into two parts. The first was the Beach Handball competition held in Glenelg, South Australia during February 2015 and the second is the Indoor titles which was held in March, 2015. Both were organised by the Australian Handball Federation and featured teams from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and hosts Western Australia.
The 2015 Oceania Handball Champions Cup was held in Sydney, Australia from 6 to 8 June 2015. This was organised by the Oceania Handball Federation and featured two teams from Australia and one from New Caledonia.
The 2015 Australian National Handball Championship is split into three stages. Stage one was held in Brisbane early August for Under 21 & Under 18 titles. Stage two in Canberra mid August for the Youth Championships. Stage three will be in Perth during October for the Open titles.
The 2005 Oceania Handball Nations Cup was the second edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, held from 24–28 May in Sydney, Australia. The winner qualified for the 2005 World Women's Handball Championship.
The 2007 Oceania Handball Nations Cup was the third edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, held from 5 to 6 June 2007, in Sydney, Australia. The winner qualified for the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship.
The Australian women's national junior handball team is the national under–19/21 Handball team of Australia. Controlled by the Australian Handball Federation it represents Australia in international matches.
The Sydney University Handball Club is a handball team from the University of Sydney from Sydney, Australia. They are five times Men's National Champions, seven times Men's Oceania Champions and qualified for seven IHF Super Globe competitions. The men's team has won the State Championship eleven times. The women's team has also won the State Championship nine times.
The Oceania Beach Handball Championship is the official competition for senior national beach handball teams of Oceania region. It was first organized by the Oceania Continent Handball Federation in 2013. In addition to crowning the Oceania champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Championships.
The 2016 Oceania Beach Handball Championship was held at Coolangatta Beach, Queensland, Australia between February 24 and 28, 2016. There were two divisions, men's and women's with only Australia and New Zealand entering.

The 2016 Handball League Australia was the first round robin handball league in Australia. The principal idea was to play round robin games in each capital city. There are four teams representing four states.
The Oceania Beach Handball Championship is the official competition for Under 17 years national beach handball teams of Oceania region. It was first organized by the Oceania Continent Handball Federation in 2017. The first champions for boys were Australia and for girls America Samoa. In addition to crowning the Oceania champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Championships and also the Youth Olympic Games. The first competition was held in Raratonga in the Cook Islands from 3 May 2017 until 5 May 2017.
