The Australia national handball team is the national handball team of Australia, representing the country in international matches. Handball Australia is the national governing body for the Olympic Sport of Handball and for the sport of Beach Handball. Australia has consistently won the Oceania championships in both men's and women's division. In 2014 the International Handball Federation (IHF) decided to exclude Australia from the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship.
The Oceania Continent Handball Federation (OCHF) is the governing body for the Olympic sport of Handball in Oceania. It was founded in 2014 and is affiliated to the International Handball Federation (IHF) and Asian Handball Federation (AHF).
The 2010 Oceania Handball Championship was the seventh edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, which took place in Porirua, New Zealand from 8 to 10 May 2010. By winning, Australia secured the Oceania bid for the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship in Sweden. The tournament was held as a double round robin. Participating nations were Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands.

The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005.

It acted originally as the qualifying competition for the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, securing one vacancy for the World Championship. The spot was taken away by the IHF on 8 July 2014.

Entered nations were Australia, Vanuatu and New Zealand, but Vanuatu did not compete. Australia won the right to play Romania for a spot in the World Cup.

Entered nations were Australia, Cook Islands and New Zealand. Australia won the right to play in the 2007 World Men's Handball Championship in Germany.
The 2008 Oceania Handball Championship was the sixth edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, which took place in Wellington, New Zealand from 7 to 10 April 2008. Entered nations were Australia, Cook Islands, New Caledonia and New Zealand. Although New Caledonia won the tournament, they are ineligible to go to the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship as they are a French colony. Australia won the right to represent Oceania by coming second.
The 1997 Oceania Women's Handball Championship was the first edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, which took place in Melbourne, Australia from 22 to 23 March 1997. Entered nations were Australia, Vanuatu and New Zealand, but Vanuatu did not compete. Australia won the right to play Slovenia for a spot in the World Cup.
The 2009 Oceania Women's Handball Championship was the fourth edition of the Oceania Handball Nations Cup, which took place in Brisbane, Australia from 25 to 30 May 2009. Australia won the right represent Oceania in the World Cup.
The Sydney University Handball Club is a handball team from the University of Sydney from Sydney, Australia. They are five times Men's National Champions, seven times Men's Oceania Champions and qualified for seven IHF Super Globe competitions. The men's team has won the State Championship eleven times. The women's team has also won the State Championship nine times.
Cricket, rugby union, rugby league & netball are the prominent sporting rivalries between Australia and New Zealand. In addition, respective national teams have competed in other sports such as indoor bowls, basketball, association football, field hockey and touch football.
The Oceania Beach Handball Championship is the official competition for Under 17 years national beach handball teams of Oceania region. It was first organized by the Oceania Continent Handball Federation in 2017. The first champions for boys were Australia and for girls America Samoa. In addition to crowning the Oceania champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Championships and also the Youth Olympic Games. The first competition was held in Raratonga in the Cook Islands from 3 May 2017 until 5 May 2017.
Beach handball at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 13 October in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
