The 2017–18 Boavista Futebol Clube da Praia season were in the island division of football (soccer) and participated their only appearance in the Premier Division. [1] It was also only their second season of regional competition after being registered in 2016 with their first being the Second Division. Tira Chapéu finished third in the Second Division last season, the withdrawal of GD Varanda made Tira Chapéu qualified into the Premier Division.

Santiago South Regional Football Association is a football (soccer) association covering the south of the island of Santiago, it is an affiliate of the Cape Verdean Football Federation. It is headquartered in the city of Praia. The association covers the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos.

The Santiago South Premier Division is a regional championship played in Santiago Island, Cape Verde and is a part of the Santiago South Zone Football Association. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season while the last two placed clubs relegates in the following season. In 2007 and 2013 when Sporting Praia automatically qualified in the championships as they won their national titles in the previous season, a second place club qualified to the national championships. The division features 12 clubs in the premier division for the second time, Varanda and Delta were relegated into the Second Division, Tchadense and Benfica were promoted last season.

Santiago South Premier Division

Their first timer into the second tier competition or the top regional competition was the next after AJ Black Panthers who competed in 2009 and Eugénio Lima in 2015, the latter after a merger of two clubs that included Lapaloma, that club today no longer exists. Tira Chapéu was the recent newcomer to the higher tier, their next will be Relámpago who will play in the Premier Division for the 2018-19 season.

Tira Chapéu finished with four wins alongside Benfica and Eugěnio Lima. The club had 17 losses and scored the least in the region with 16 and conceded the most with 57, the club finished last for the season and will make their second Second Division appearance next season.

Santiago South Cup

Tira Chapéu made their second appearance at the regional cup, they played their second cup match, this time, they started at the second round and played with Os Garridos, a club based in São Domingos, the club lost the match and was out from further competition. The club remains to be likely the only club who never scored a goal at cup competitions.
