The 2017 MIB Nordic Gorzów FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland was the eighth race of the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on August 26 at the Edward Jancarz Stadium in Gorzów, Poland. [1]

The 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 23rd season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 72nd FIM Speedway World Championship. It was seventeenth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company.

Edward Jancarz Stadium

Edward Jancarz Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland. It is currently used mostly as a 329 m racetrack for speedway matches and is the home stadium of Stal Gorzów Wielkopolski in the Speedway Ekstraliga. The stadium has opened in 1951.

Gorzów Wielkopolski Place in Lubusz, Poland

Gorzów Wielkopolski(listen), often abbreviated to Gorzów Wlkp. or simply Gorzów, is a city in western Poland, on the Warta river. It is the second largest city in the Lubusz Voivodeship with 124,116 inhabitants and one of its two capitals with a seat of a Voivodeship governor. Previously it was the capital of the Gorzów Voivodeship (1975–1998).

Riders

Second reserve Martin Smolinski replaced Greg Hancock, fourth reserve Václav Milík Jr. replaced Nicki Pedersen and fifth reserve Michael Jepsen Jensen replaced Niels-Kristian Iversen. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Krzysztof Kasprzak as the wild card, and Kacper Woryna and Oskar Polis both as Track Reserves.

Martin Smolinski is a German international motorcycle speedway and Grasstrack rider who has represented the German speedway team at senior level. He is the current World Long Track champion and European Grasstrack champion.

Greg Hancock American speedway rider

Gregory Alan "Greg" Hancock is an American motorcycle speedway rider.

Václav Milík Jr. is a speedway rider who ride for Czech Republic U-21 national team. He is a son of former czechoslovakian and czech speedway rider Václav Milík Sr.

Results

The Grand Prix was won by Great Britain's Tai Woffinden, who beat Patryk Dudek, Jason Doyle and Bartosz Zmarzlik in the final. [2] As a result of finishing third, Doyle moved back to the top of the overall standings. Previous series leader Maciej Janowski failed to make the semi-finals.

Tai Woffinden British speedway rider

Tai Woffinden is a speedway rider. In 2013 he became World Speedway Champion and currently rides for the WTS Wrocław in the Polish Speedway Ekstraliga and Indianerna Kumla in the Swedish Elitserien. Until the end of 2014 he also rode for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the British Elite League, but announced in late 2014 that he would not be riding in Britain during 2015 in his quest to regain his World Championship.

Patryk Dudek Polish speedway rider

Patryk Dudek is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who is a member of the Polish national speedway team. He got his speedway licence in 2008. His father, Sławomir, is a former rider. Dudek won 2009 and 2010 Team U-19 European Champion and 2009 Individual Under-21 Polish Champion titles. He is the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix silver medallist, having accomplished this during his debut season in the Speedway Grand Prix series, which makes him the most successful SGP rookie ever.

Jason Doyle Australian speedway rider

Jason Kevin Doyle is an Australian motorcycle speedway rider. He became World Champion in 2017. He won the 2015 Australian Solo Championship. He has also won the South Australian Championship in 2014, and the Elite League Riders' Championship and the Master of Speedway meeting in Germany in 2015.
