Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev is an Uzbek politician who has served as President of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan since 2016. Previously he was the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan from 2003 to 2016.
Han Myeong-sook is a South Korean politician who served as the Prime Minister of South Korea from April 2006 to March 2007. She is South Korea's first female prime minister. She was from the United New Democratic Party (UNDP) as a member of the Korean National Assembly (representative) for Ilsan-gab, and is a graduate of Ewha Womans University in Seoul with a degree in French literature. She resigned as Prime Minister on March 7, 2007, and declared her presidential candidacy. But she did not succeed in the nominations. In 2008 she ran for parliament, but was not elected. However, in January 2012 she was elected leader of the main oppositional Democratic United Party (DUP) before the April legislative elections and became a member of parliament. But the liberals did not manage to defeat the ruling Saenuri Party and Han stepped down as party leader in April 2012. In August 2015, Han was convicted of receiving illegal donations and sentenced to two years in prison. Han has maintained her innocence. In 2021, she was granted special amnesty by the government and her constitutional rights were restored.
Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan relations refers to the relations between the neighbouring Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan has an Embassy in Tashkent and a Consulate General in Samarkand. Uzbekistan has an Embassy in Astana and have Consulates General in Almaty and Aktau.

Belarusian-Uzbek relations refers to the bilateral relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 21 January 1993, with the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent being opened in February 1994. Uzbekistan also has an embassy in Minsk.
Komil Ismailovich Allamzhonov is an Uzbek statesman and public figure. He was Press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, acting director of the Uzbek Agency for Press and Information, acting director of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ; and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Foundation for Support and Development of the National Mass Media in Uzbekistan.

Snap presidential elections were held in Uzbekistan on 4 December 2016, following the death of incumbent President Islam Karimov on 2 September. The constitution mandated that the election be held within three months of Karimov's death. Interim President Shavkat Mirziyoyev won the elections with 90% of the vote. The elections were described by the Economist as a sham, and by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe as lacking "a genuine choice".

Lieutenant general Ikhtiyor Abdullayev is the head of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan, appointed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to replace Rustam Inoyatov in January 2018. He was fired from this post in February 2019 amid allegations that he tapped President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's phone. Abdullayev had previously served as the prosecutor-general of Uzbekistan, since 2015. He previously served as a Presidential advisor, before replacing Rashid Qodirov as prosecutor general.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev's tenure as the 2nd President of Uzbekistan began with his inauguration 14 December 2016, after serving as prime minister (2003–16) and acting president following the death of his predecessor, Islam Karimov. In accordance with the Constitution of Uzbekistan, his mandate will last until 2026, following his re-election in 2021.

South Korea-Uzbekistan relations are the international relations between South Korea and Uzbekistan.
Presidential elections were held in Uzbekistan on 24 October 2021. This was the sixth presidential election held since independence. Incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev won a second term with a majority 80.1% of the vote, although faring the lowest performance for an incumbent in terms of vote share since 1991. Maqsuda Vorisova from the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (XDP) was the runner-up and Alisher Qodirov from the Uzbekistan National Revival Democratic Party came third, which marked the first time that more than two candidates had officially received more than 5% of the vote.
Protests broke out in the autonomous region of Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan on 1 July 2022 over proposed amendments by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Uzbek President, to the Constitution of Uzbekistan, which would have ended Karakalpakstan's status as an autonomous region of Uzbekistan and right to secede from Uzbekistan via referendum. A day after protests had begun in the Karakalpak capital of Nukus, President Mirziyoyev withdrew the constitutional amendments. The Karakalpak government said that protesters had attempted to storm government buildings.
