The 2018 GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma was the 17th and final round of the 2018 IndyCar Series season. The race was held on September 16 at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. 2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay qualified on pole position, [1] and took victory in the 85-lap race. [2]

This also marked the last IndyCar Series race at Sonoma, as since 2019, the season finale held at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

It was also the final race for Verizon Communications as the series sponsor, as NTT took over as title sponsor for 2019.

Ryan Christopher Hunter-Reay is a professional American racing driver best known as a winner of both the Indianapolis 500 (2014) and the IndyCar Series championship in 2012. The 2014 GoPro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma was a Verizon IndyCar Series event that was held on August 24, 2014 at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. It was the seventeenth and penultimate race of the 2014 IndyCar Series season. The eighty-five lap race was won by Scott Dixon for Chip Ganassi Racing, Ryan Hunter-Reay finished second and Simon Pagenaud third. A 6.0 earthquake hit the area in the early morning of the race; it did not damage the track, and officials deemed its infrastructure safe from collapse, allowing the race to proceed as scheduled.
