At the 2019 French Open, the men's doubles title was won by Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies. They defeated Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin in the final 6–2, 7–6(7–3). None of these players had previously played in a Grand Slam men's doubles final. This has occurred twice in the past three years.

Pavić also usurped Robert Farah for the ATP No. 1 doubles ranking by winning the title after Farah lost in the second round.
Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert defeated Alexander Bublik and Andrey Golubev in the final, 4–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–4, to win the men's doubles title at the 2021 French Open. It was their second French Open title and fifth major title together. They saved match points in their semifinal match against Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah. Bublik and Golubev became the first male Kazakhstani players to reach a major final.
Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner defeated Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–4 to win the men's doubles title at the 2022 Miami Open. Isner completed the Sunshine Double, having previously won the title at Indian Wells alongside Jack Sock. He became the first player to do so in men's doubles since Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in 2016.
