The 30th edition of the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships was held from April 19 to 26, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the first time in the tournament's history that men and women fought in the same championship. [1]

Jo Seok-Hwan is a retired South Korean amateur boxer. He participated in the 2000 Summer Olympics for his native East Asian country. There he was stopped in the first round of the Bantamweight (54 kg) division by Uzbekistan' Alisher Rahimov. Later Jo won the bronze medal in the Featherweight (57 kg) division at the 2003 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok.

Anvar Yunusov is a Tajikistani boxer who currently competes as a professional in the super featherweight division. As an amateur, he won bronze at the 2011 amateur world championships, gold at the 2011 Asian championships, and qualified for the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics. He is known for giving Asian Games winner Violito Payla his first ever stoppage defeat at the 2007 World Championships.

The Asian Amateur Boxing Championships is the highest competition for boxing amateurs in Asia. The first tournament took place in 1963, hosted by Bangkok, Thailand.

Nasser Aghaie was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1963. He participated as a member of this team at the first Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963, and at the 1964 Summer Olympics, in the Flyweight division, and at 1966 Asian Games, in the Featherweight division, and also at the third Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Colombo, Ceylon in 1967.

Akbar Khojini, was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1956, and was also a member of Tehran Jafari Club, boxing in the 81 kg division. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Light Heavyweight division, and also at the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963, in which he won the silver medal of the 81 kg boxing division, after losing to Ali Barkat from Pakistan, in the final. Khojini was also selected for the Light Heavyweight division of the Iranian national boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games. In Tokyo 1958, Khojini lost to Sultan Mahmoud from Pakistan, in the quarterfinal, and won the bronze medal of the 81 kg boxing division. Khojini retired from championship boxing and the Iranian national boxing team, after returning from the 1963 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok.

The 16th edition of the Men's Asian Amateur Boxing Championships was held from February 26 to March 4, 1992 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The first edition of the Women's Asian Amateur Boxing Championships were held from August 25 to August 29, 2001, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Subedar Amit Panghal Vishisht Seva Medal is an Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and an amateur boxer, supported by OGQ. He won silver medal at the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships in the Flyweight division. Panghal won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Amit Panghal has received top seeding in the 52 kg category. Amit Panghal is the reigning Asian Games champion and a world championships silver-medalist Asian Elite Boxing Championships Panghal failed to defend his gold medal, that he won in 2019, against reigning Olympic and world champion Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan to finish second-best in Dubai.

Ashish Kumar Chaudhary is an Indian amateur boxer who competes in the middleweight category. He won a silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships and a gold medal at 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament held in Bangkok. He also won bronze medal at 2020 Asia/Oceania Olympics Qualifier and represented India in middleweight category at 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
