Roger Federer won his 8th Dubai title, and 100th ATP singles title overall, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas, 6–4, 6–4, in the final. Federer became the second male tennis player in history after Jimmy Connors in 1983 to win 100 ATP singles titles. [2]

Following his run to the final, Tsitsipas entered the top 10 in the ATP rankings for the first time in his career, becoming the first Greek player to achieve this feat. [3]

Two-time defending champion Rafael Nadal defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6–2, 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2018 Barcelona Open. With the win, Nadal retained the ATP no. 1 singles ranking. It was Nadal's record-extending eleventh Barcelona Open title and his 20th ATP 500 title overall, equaling Roger Federer's record. Dominic Thiem defeated Roger Federer in the final, 3–6, 6–3, 7–5 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2019 Indian Wells Masters. It was his maiden ATP Tour Masters 1000 title, and he became the first Austrian to win a Masters title since Thomas Muster won the 1997 Miami Open.

Novak Djokovic defeated Milos Raonic in the final, 1–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2020 Cincinnati Masters. With the win, he claimed his record-equaling 35th Masters 1000 title, and completed the double career Golden Masters. Djokovic became the first new singles titlist on the ATP Tour since its suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Nikoloz Basilashvili was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the first round to Roberto Bautista Agut.

Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Andrey Rublev in the final, 6–3, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters. It was his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title, making him the first Greek to win a Masters tournament. Rublev was also in contention for his maiden Masters 1000 title.

Rafael Nadal defeated the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the final, 7–5, 1–6, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Italian Open. It was his record-extending 10th Italian Open title and record-equaling 36th Masters 1000 title overall. Nadal saved two match points en route to the title, in his third round match against Denis Shapovalov. This was also the fourth time that Nadal had won a tournament on 10 or more occasions, making him the only tennis player with the feat.

The 2021 Halle Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the 28th edition of the Halle Open and part of the ATP Tour 500 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. It took place at the OWL Arena in Halle, Germany, between 14 and 20 June 2021.

Ugo Humbert defeated Andrey Rublev in the final 6–3, 7–6(7–4), to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 Halle Open. Humbert's win earned him his third career ATP Tour singles title and his first ATP 500 victory, and also made him the first French player to win the tournament since Henri Leconte won the inaugural edition in 1993. Both Humbert and Rublev were contesting their first career final on grass.

Alexander Zverev defeated Andrey Rublev in the final, 6–2, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. It was his fifth Masters 1000 title and 17th career singles title on the ATP Tour.

Andrey Rublev was the reigning champion from when the tournament was last held in 2019, but lost to Adrian Mannarino in the second round in a rematch of the 2019 final.

Félix Auger-Aliassime defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6–4, 6–2. It was his maiden ATP Tour singles title, following eight runner-up finishes in prior finals.

Andrey Rublev defeated Jiří Veselý in the final, 6–3, 6–4 to win the men's singles title at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships. It was Rublev's tenth career singles title. Veselý entered the tournament ranked as the world No. 123, and was the lowest-ranked finalist in the tournament's history.
