The 2019 Japan Women's Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the eleventh edition of the Japan Women's Open, and part of the WTA International tournaments of the 2019 WTA Tour. It was held at the Regional Park Tennis Stadium in Hiroshima, Japan, from September 9 through September 15, 2019.

Wang Yafan was the defending champion, but lost to compatriot Wang Xiyu in the first round.

Victoria Azarenka won the women's singles tennis title at the 2020 Cincinnati Masters via walkover, after Naomi Osaka withdrew from the final with a hamstring injury. It was Azarenka's first singles title since the 2016 Miami Open, and her first since giving birth to her son Leo in December 2016.

Petra Martić was the defending champion, but she chose not to participate as she was still competing at the 2020 US Open.

This was the first WTA Tour singles final to be resolved with a 'double bagel' scoreline since Simona Halep defeated Anastasija Sevastova at the 2016 Bucharest Open, and was just the tenth such final in WTA Tour history. With the win, Świątek broke into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time. Both finalists saved match points in prior rounds – Świątek saved two match points in her third round match against Barbora Krejčíková, whilst Plíšková saved three match points in her quarterfinal match against Jeļena Ostapenko.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Jil Teichmann in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. Barty did not drop a set en route to her first Cincinnati Masters title. It was her fifth and last title of the season, her third WTA 1000 title, and her 13th career WTA Tour singles title.

Iga Świątek defeated Maria Sakkari in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. She became the first Pole to win the title.

Defending champion Leylah Fernandez defeated Camila Osorio in the final, 6–7(5–7), 6–4, 7–6(7–3) to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 Monterrey Open. Fernandez saved five championship points en route to the title, all in the final set.

Petra Kvitová defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 7–6(16–14), 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Miami Open. It was Kvitová's first WTA 1000 title since the 2018 Madrid Open, and her 30th career title overall; she also became the first Czech player to win the title. Rybakina was attempting to complete the Sunshine Double, having already won the title at Indian Wells.

Elena Rybakina won the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Italian Open after Anhelina Kalinina retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–4, 1–0. It was Rybakina's second title of 2023 and second career WTA 1000 title. Rybakina won three of her six matches at the tournament via retirement: over Anna Kalinskaya in the third round, Iga Świątek in the quarterfinals, and Kalinina in the final. With the win, Rybakina entered the top five in the WTA rankings for the first time at world No. 4.

Lucia Bronzetti defeated Julia Grabher in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 7–5 to win the singles tennis title at the 2023 Morocco Open. It was her first WTA Tour title.

Hsieh Su-wei and Wang Xinyu defeated Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend in the final, 1–6, 7–6(7–5), 6–1 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2023 French Open. It was Hsieh's second French Open title, and fifth major title overall; it was Wang's first major title. Fernandez became the first Canadian finalist.
