Built in 1974, the venue was renovated in 2005 and 2008. In 2005, a deck viewing area located down the first base line was added. In 2008, seating areas were improved and a new scoreboard was added. The field also features stadium lighting. The Skyhawk Baseball/Softball Building sits adjacent to Skyhawk Park and includes offices and clubhouses for both programs.

Anthony Stewart (basketball coach) American basketball coach

Anthony W. Stewart was an American college basketball coach. His last position was as head coach of the UT Martin Skyhawks. Since Stewart joined the Skyhawk program as the associate head coach under Heath Schroyer in 2014, the team won 94 games, the most in a six-year time period since they became part of Division I. Stewart was responsible of the team's three straight 20-win campaigns from 2014-2017, a first for the UT team. Also in that span, the Skyhawks won five postseason games and was the only Ohio Valley Conference school to win at least one postseason game in each of the last three seasons. Coach Stewart had gone on to coach over 15 professional players during his coaching career.

The 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Soccer Tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Ohio Valley Conference held from October 26 through November 4, 2018. The first round and quarterfinals of the tournament were held at campus sites hosted by the #3 and #4 seeds, while the semifinals and final took place at Skyhawk Soccer Field in Martin, Tennessee. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of four rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Murray State Racers were the defending champions and successfully defended their title with a 2–1 win over the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks in the final. The conference tournament title was the fourth for the Murray State women's soccer program and the third for head coach Jeremy Groves.
