The 53rd World Rowing Junior Championships took place from 7 to 11 August 2019 at the Sea Forest Waterway, Odaiba (Tokyo Bay) in Tokyo, Japan.
The regatta was held at Sea Forest Waterway, the venue constructed for the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The water is about 6 metres (20 ft) deep. The course is 2,335 metres (7,661 ft) long and 198 metres (650 ft) wide. Each lane is 12.5 m (41 ft) wide. There are 8 lanes. [1]

The 2006 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 20 to 27 August 2006 at Dorney Lake, Dorney, Great Britain.
Thomas Greiner is a retired German rower who won a gold medal in the coxless fours at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He also won four gold and three bronze medals in various events at the world championships of 1982–1990.
Nikolay Igorevich Pimenov is a retired Russian rower who mostly competed in the coxless pairs, rowing with his twin brother Yuriy. Between 1978 and 1993 the brothers won a silver medal at the 1980 Olympics, as well as three gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the world championships. They finished in 6th and 15th place at the 1988 and 1992 Games, respectively, missing the 1984 Olympics due to their boycott by the Soviet Union.
The 1962 World Rowing Championships were the inaugural world championships in rowing. The competition was held in September 1962 on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. Rowers from West Germany dominated the competition, winning five of the seven boat classes.
Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozłowska is a Polish rower. She is the 2016 Olympic double sculls champion with rowing partner Natalia Madaj. From 2009 to 2012, she rowed with Julia Michalska.
Carina Bär is a German rower. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro she competed in the women's quadruple sculls competition in which the German team won the gold medal. She had previous won the silver medal in the same event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Donata Karalienė is a Lithuanian rower and Olympic bronze medalist at the Rio 2016 Games. She is also known for winning gold medals at the 2013 World Rowing Championships, and the 2012 and 2013 European Rowing Championships.
Kara Michelle Kohler is an American female crew rower. She won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the quadruple sculls event. She also has a World Championship gold medal in the coxless four and a World Championship bronze in the single sculls.

The 1974 World Rowing Championships was the fourth World Rowing Championships. It was held from 4 to 8 September 1974 and from 29 August to 1 September 1974 on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. The event was significantly extended from the 1970 edition, with the addition of both women's and lightweight men's events. Six women boat classes were added, three lightweight men classes, plus quad scull for men, increasing the number of boat classes from seven in 1970 to seventeen in 1974. This was also the last World Championships held on a quadrennial cycle – from this point, World Championships were held annually.

The 1951 European Rowing Championships were rowing championships held on the Mâcon regatta course on the Saône in Mâcon, France. Men competed in all seven Olympic boat classes. The regatta is notable as the first test event for international women's rowing organised by the International Rowing Federation (FISA), with four countries competing in four boat classes over the shorter race distance of 1,000 m. The purpose of the test event was to see whether women's rowing should formally become part of the FISA-organised European Rowing Championships.
This article details the qualifying phase for rowing at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The majority of the spots were awarded to the National Olympic Committees, not to specific athletes, at the 2019 World Rowing Championships, held in Ottensheim, Austria from 25 August to 1 September 2019. At the World Championships countries qualify boats rather than crews and can make crew changes for the Olympic regatta for qualified boats. Further berths are distributed to the nations at four continental qualifying regattas in Asia and Oceania, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. The last berths were distributed at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta held in Lucerne, Switzerland 15–16 May 2021.
