Television in the Republic of Ireland is available through a variety of platforms. The digital terrestrial television service is known as Saorview and is the primary source of broadcast television since analogue transmissions ended on 24 October 2012. Digital satellite and digital cable are also widely used.
RTÉ2 is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by public service broadcaster RTÉ. It was launched on 2 November 1978 as the Republic of Ireland's second television channel, at which point the preexisting channel was renamed RTÉ 1.
RTÉ News and Current Affairs, also known simply as RTÉ News, is the national news service provided by Irish public broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Its services include local, national, European and international news, investigative journalism and current affairs programming for RTÉ television, radio, online, podcasts, on-demand and for independent Irish language public broadcaster TG4. The division is based at the RTÉ Television Centre in Donnybrook, Dublin; however, the station also operates regional bureaux across Ireland and the world.

Virgin Media Two, also called Virgin Two, is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by Virgin Media Television.
Gráinne Seoige is an Irish journalist, news anchor and documentary and entertainment television presenter. A noted Irish language supporter, Seoige is the only television personality to have worked with all four Irish terrestrial television stations—TG4, TV3, RTÉ One and RTÉ2—and to have read the inaugural news bulletins on three separate channels—TG4, TV3, and Sky News Ireland.
RTÉ Aertel was a teletext service broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ2 in Ireland from 1987 until 2023. It was also available in its entirety on the Internet until 2019.

The RTÉ News channel is an Irish free-to-air news television network operated by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). The channel launched as RTÉ News Now available exclusively online on 12 June 2008. The channel began broadcasting as a free-to-air channel on 29 October 2010 on Saorview.
