December 7 - The banana and duct tape in Comedian, an artwork created in an edition of three for the 2019 installation of Art Basel Miami Beach by Maurizio Cattelan, consisting of the aforementioned fruit held to a wall by duct tape (the initial one of which was sold to an unnamed French art collector for US$120,000) is summarily eaten by David Datuna a self-styled performance vigilante who names his piece Hungry Artist and says of the finished work "It was very delicious". Galerie Perrotin, the exhibitor of the work at the art fair, replaces the fruit and states that the work is an "idea". Banana duct taped to fridge as a reminder to eat less meat.jpg

Umberto Boccioni was an influential Italian painter and sculptor. He helped shape the revolutionary aesthetic of the Futurism movement as one of its principal figures. Despite his short life, his approach to the dynamism of form and the deconstruction of solid mass guided artists long after his death. His works are held by many public art museums, and in 1988 the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City organized a major retrospective of 100 pieces.

Maurizio Cattelan is an Italian visual artist. Known primarily for his hyperrealistic sculptures and installations, Cattelan's practice also includes curating and publishing. His satirical approach to art has resulted in him being frequently labelled as a joker or prankster of the art world. Self-taught as an artist, Cattelan has exhibited internationally in museums and Biennials. Maurizio Cattelan created his most important works of art at Viale Bligny 42 in Milan, where he lived for many years.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grand Central Art Galleries</span> Art gallery in New York, United States

The Grand Central Art Galleries were the exhibition and administrative space of the nonprofit Painters and Sculptors Gallery Association, an artists' cooperative established in 1922 by Walter Leighton Clark together with John Singer Sargent, Edmund Greacen, and others. Artists closely associated with the Grand Central Art Galleries included Hovsep Pushman, George de Forest Brush, and especially Sargent, whose posthumous show took place there in 1928.

Massimiliano Gioni is an Italian curator and contemporary art critic based in New York City, and artistic director at the New Museum. He is the artistic director of the Nicola Trussardi Foundation in Milan as well as the artistic director of the Beatrice Trussardi Foundation. Gioni was the curator of the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013.
