The 1993 Copa América was the 36th Copa América, CONMEBOL's football tournament for national teams. It was held in Ecuador between 15 June and 4 July. All 10 CONMEBOL members took part, but for the first time two nations from outside CONMEBOL were invited to take part in the tournament, to round out the format. Mexico and the United States, both of CONCACAF, were the invited teams for this tournament. Argentina defeated Mexico in the final 2–1 to win their record 14th continental championship, also their last senior title until 2021.

The tournament was held in Ecuador from 4 to 21 November 2010, after originally being scheduled for 28 October to 14 November 2010.

The 2014 Copa América Femenina was the seventh edition of the Copa América Femenina, an association football competition for women's national teams in South America affiliated with CONMEBOL. The tournament was played between 11 and 28 September 2014 in Ecuador.

The 2016 Copa Libertadores final stages were played from 26 April to 27 July 2016. A total of 16 teams competed in the final stages to decide the champions of the 2016 Copa Libertadores. Atlético Nacional won the title by defeating Independiente del Valle in the finals.

The 2019 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina was the 11th edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina, South America's premier women's club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament was held in Quito, Ecuador from 11 to 28 October 2019.

The 2020 season was Barcelona Sporting Club's 95th season in existence and the club's 62nd season in the top flight of Ecuadorian football. Barcelona was involved in two competitions: the main national tournament Liga Pro, and the international tournament Copa Libertadores. The national cup called Copa Ecuador was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ecuador.

The 2020 Copa Libertadores group stage was played from 3 March to 22 October 2020. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the final stages of the 2020 Copa Libertadores.

The 2022 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina was the 14th edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina, South America's premier women's club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament was held in Ecuador from 13 to 28 October 2022. Corinthians, the defending champions, were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

The 2021 Copa Libertadores qualifying stages were played from 23 February to 15 April 2021. A total of 19 teams competed in the qualifying stages to decide four of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2021 Copa Libertadores.

It was held in Ecuador between 30 March and 23 April 2023. This was the first U-17 championship in four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing CONMEBOL to cancel the tournament in 2021.
