Jackson Gabriel Porozo Vernaza (born 4 August 2000) is an Ecuadorian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Mexican club Tijuana on loan from French side Troyes.

Club career

Early career

Born in San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas, Porozo started his career with LDU Quito, joining their youth setup in 2012. He subsequently represented Sandino FC, Manta and Independiente del Valle before returning to Manta in 2016. [3] Porozo made his senior debut during the 2017 campaign, in the Ecuadorian Serie B. He scored his first senior goal on 22 April of that year, netting his team's only in a 3–1 away loss against Colón FC. [4] Porozo finished his first season with one goal in 16 appearances, and also had a trial at Palmeiras in December 2017. [5]

Santos

On 23 March 2018, Porozo agreed to a contract with Santos, being initially assigned to the under-20 squad. [6] After having problems in his contract, [7] he joined the club in August, after his 18th birthday.

Boavista

On 1 October 2020, Porozo was announced at Primeira Liga side Boavista, agreeing to a five-year contract, [8] for a total fee of 500,000; Santos received 80% of the value, and also retained a 16% over a future sale. [9]

Troyes

On 24 June 2022, Porozo signed for Ligue 1 side Troyes on a five-year contract. [10] On 2 August 2023, he was loaned to Super League Greece side Olympiacos. [11]

On 2 February 2024, Porozo moved on a new loan to Kasımpaşa in Turkey. [12] On 23 August, he switched teams and countries again, after agreeing to a one-year loan deal with La Liga side Leganés. [13] He made two cup appearances and no league appearances for Leganés in the first half of the season. On 30 January 2025, Porozo moved on a new loan to Tijuana in Mexico until 31 December 2025. [14]

International career

On 14 February 2017, Porozo was called up to Ecuador under-17s for the year's South American U-17 Championship, [15] being a starter during the tournament and scoring a goal against Uruguay on 26 February. On 2 January 2019, he was included in Jorge Célico's 23-man list of the under-20s for the 2019 South American U-20 Championship. [16]

Porozo was an undisputed starter during the competition, being included in the tournament's best eleven as his side was crowned champions. [17] On 12 March 2019, he was called up to the full side for friendlies against United States and Honduras. [18]

Porozo made his full international debut on 10 September 2019, coming on as a late substitute for Félix Torres in a 3–0 win against Bolivia in Cuenca. [19]

    The 2022 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol Serie A, known as the LigaPro Betcris 2022 for sponsoring purposes, was the 64th season of the Serie A, Ecuador's top tier football league, and the fourth under the management of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol del Ecuador. The season began on 18 February and ended on 13 November 2022.

    The 2022 season was the 97th season in the existence of Barcelona Sporting Club, and the 64th season in the top flight of Ecuadorian football. Barcelona was involved in four competitions: the main national tournament Liga Pro, the national cup called Copa Ecuador, and two international tournaments: Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.

    The 2023 South American U-17 Championship will be an international football tournament to be held in Ecuador from 30 March to 23 April 2023. The ten national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of a minimum of 19 and a maximum of 23 players, including at least three goalkeepers. Only players in these squads are eligible to take part in the tournament. The tournament exclusively requires players to be born between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2008 to be eligible, that is, they must be a maximum of 17 years old and at least 15 years old.
