Olympic Games

The 2020 Olympics, set to be held in Tokyo, Japan, were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the road cycling events taking place from 23 July to 8 August 2021. [1]


World Championships

The World Road Championships were originally set to be held in Aigle and Martigny, Switzerland, from 20 to 27 September 2020. [2] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Switzerland the races in Switzerland were cancelled. [3] The UCI are intending to run the World Championships on the original dates at a new to be confirmed locations. The final location of the World Road Championships is Imola in Italy.

The World Marathon Majors (WMM) is a championship-style competition for marathon runners that started in 2006. A points-based competition founded on six major marathon races recognised as the most high-profile on the calendar, the series comprises annual races for the cities of Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York. In addition, each edition of the series recognises and includes the results of the major global championship marathon held in that year, usually on a one-off lapped course. These races are the biennial World Athletics Championships Marathon, and the quadrennial Olympic Games Marathon.

The UCI Road World Championships are the annual world championships for bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI Road World Championships consist of events for road race and individual time trial, and as of 2019 a mixed team relay.

The London–Surrey Classic was an annual 193 km (119.9 mi) men's professional one-day road cycling race, starting and finishing in London and routed via the picturesque Surrey Hills. The first race of its kind was the London–Surrey Cycle Classic, on 14 August 2011, a 1.2 classification 140 km preparatory event for the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was won by sprinter Mark Cavendish. The men's and women's Olympic road races were held on a longer variation of the same course the following year. On 4 August 2013, the race found a permanent home as part of the Prudential RideLondon weekend, a two-day cycling festival held in London, a legacy event of the Olympics.
