The 2021 season was Negeri Sembilan's 98th year in their history and 9th season in Malaysia Premier League since it was first introduced in 2004. Also it was the third season in the Malaysia Premier League since 2019 following relegation 2018 season. Along with the league, the club will also compete in the Malaysia Cup. [1] [2]
On 26 December 2020, the club signed several new players. Among them were Raja Imran Shah Raja Amin, Barathkumar Ramaloo, Aroon Kumar, Damien Lim, Saiful Ridzuwan Selamat, Annas Rahmat and Ferris Danial. The club also signed, Tasnim Fitri and Osman Yusoff. [3]
On 17 March 2021, the club won over Perak II in a league match. [4]
On 25 April 2021, the club draw 1-1 against Sarawak United in a league match. [5]
On 30 June 2021, two foreign players, Fernando Barbosa and Rafinha has been replaced with Francis Koné and Arthur Cunha during mid season transfer. [6]

The 2019 season was Sabah's 7th competitive season in the second tier of Malaysian football, the Malaysia Premier League after relegated in 2012. Along with the Malaysia Premier League, the club competes in the Malaysia FA Cup and the Malaysia Cup.

The 2022 season was Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club's 49th season in club history and 8th season in the Malaysia Super League after rebranding their name from Johor FC.
The 2023 Malaysia Super League is the 20th season of the Malaysia Super League, the top-tier professional football league in Malaysia for association football clubs since its establishment in 2004, and the 42nd season of top-flight Malaysia football overall. It is the first season after restructuring, with 18 teams. However, MFL announced there will be only 16 teams as they rejected both Sarawak United and Melaka United due to failed licensing appeal. The league shrunk to 15 teams after Petaling Jaya City officially withdrawn due to the expansion and increased foreign player quota, which are diverted from the club's main vision. On 5 January 2023, UiTM officially withdrawn due to the financial problems. The new season therefore has 14 teams, kicking-off on 24th February.
