The 2022 season is Sabah's seventh competitive season in the highest tier of Malaysian football since the foundation of Malaysia Super League in 2004. It is also the third season for Sabah to play in Malaysia Super League after winning the 2019 Malaysia Premier League which got promoted.
The 2023 season is Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club's 50th season in club history and 9th season in the Malaysia Super League after rebranding their name from Johor FC.
The 2023 season is Kedah Darul Aman's 15th season in the Malaysia Super League since the league's inception in 2004.
