The 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu European Championship, officially called the 2022 European Jiu-Jitsu IBJFF Championship, was an international jiu-jitsu event organised by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJFF) held between 15 and 20 February 2022 in Rome, Italy.

Location

Rome was selected as the host city for the first time as the European championship had been previously held, until 2019, [lower-alpha 1] in Lisbon, Portugal. [2]

Laurence Cousin Fouillat is a French submission grappler and third degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and instructor. Considered a pioneer in the sport, Cousin is regarded as the first European female to receive a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 2005 she won the CBJJO World Jiu-Jitsu Cup and medalled at the IBJJF World Championship taking place in Rio de Janeiro. In 2007 Cousin became the first woman from outside Brazil to become IBJJF World jiu-jitsu champion.

Mayssa Bastos is a Brazilian submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. Bastos has won almost every single major jiu-jitsu tournaments in both Gi and No-Gi. She is the current roosterweight World Champion, World No-Gi Champion, Pan American Champion and the light-featherweight European Champion.
