The 2022 European Truck Racing Championship was a motor-racing championship using highly tuned tractor units. It was the 38th year of the championship. An eight-round season was announced on 21 December 2021, with the season beginning on 21 May at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and ended on 2 October at the Circuito del Jarama. [1]

Schedule

An eight-round calendar was announced on 21 December 2021. The Slovakia Ring returned to the series schedule after being removed for the previous season. The round at the Nürburgring also returned after the 2021 European floods forced its cancellation the previous year. [1]

The Nürburgring is a 150,000 person capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Raffaele "Lello" Marciello is a Swiss-born Italian professional racing driver. A former member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was the 2013 European Formula Three Champion, a reserve and test driver for the Sauber Formula One team in 2015, and spent three seasons competing in the GP2 Series. He switched to GT racing in 2017 and became a works Mercedes-AMG driver ahead of the 2018 campaign, where he stayed until leaving in 2023 and subsequently signing with BMW. In 2022, Marciello earned his first major endurance race victory by winning the Spa 24 Hours.

Jochen Hahn dominated the season en route to his sixth career ETRC championship, securing the title one round early at the Bugatti Circuit in France.

An eight-round season was originally slated to begin April 25 at the Hungaroring and end October 4 at the Circuito del Jarama. A seven round calendar was announced on November 17, 2020, which was slated to begin May 22, 2021 at the Misano World Circuit in Italy and conclude with October 3 at the Circuito del Jarama in Spain. However, due to continued restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the round at Misano was postponed to the end of the season, moving the round at the Hungaroring in Hungary on June 12 as the first race of the season.

The 2023 European Truck Racing Championship, also known as the Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship for sponsorship reasons, will be a motor-racing championship using highly tuned tractor units. It is the 39th year of the championship. A nine-round season was announced on 7 December 2022, with the season beginning on 20 May at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and ending on 1 October at the Circuito del Jarama. The season was shortened to eight rounds pre-season due to construction work at the Hungaroring.
