The 2022–23 Toronto Raptors season was the 28th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Finishing the season as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference, the Raptors qualified into the play-in tournament on April 2, 2023, for the first time in franchise history. The Raptors ultimately failed to qualify for the playoffs following their loss to the 10-seeded Chicago Bulls in April 12's play-in game despite leading by 19 points. [1]
This was Nick Nurse's final season with the team as head coach; the Raptors fired him on April 21, 2023. [2]

The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Scotiabank Arena, which it shares with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. Since the 2001–02 season, the Raptors have been the only Canadian-based team in the league, as the Grizzlies relocated from Vancouver to Memphis, Tennessee.
Vincent Lamar Carter Jr. is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He primarily played the shooting guard and small forward positions, but occasionally played power forward later in his NBA career. An eight-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Team selection, he played a record 22 seasons in the NBA, tied with LeBron James for the most seasons played in league history. He is also the only player to have played in the NBA in four different decades. In 2024, Carter was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Calvin Andre "C. J." Miles Jr. is an American former professional basketball player who played for the NBA. A native of Dallas, Miles was drafted in 2005 by the Utah Jazz after finishing high school.
Nicholas David Nurse is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously served as head coach for the Toronto Raptors, whom he led to an NBA championship in 2019 and with whom he was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2020.
Kyle Terrell Lowry is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A six-time All-Star, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2016 and won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, their first and only title in franchise history. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Raptors players of all time due to his work with turning the franchise around, from the post-Vince Carter era to their first-ever championship in 2019. As starting point guard, Lowry played an integral role in the Raptors' success from 2012 to 2021. Lowry was also a member of the U.S. national team that won a gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
DeMar Darnell DeRozan is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the USC Trojans and was selected ninth overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 NBA draft. He is a six-time NBA All-Star and a three-time All-NBA Team member. DeRozan is currently fifth among all active NBA players on the all-time scoring list.
James Patrick Johnson is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was the starting power forward for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons from 2007 to 2009. He was drafted 16th overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.
Pascal Siakam is a Cameroonian professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A two-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection, he won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. Siakam played college basketball for the New Mexico State Aggies and was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2016. Nicknamed "Spicy P", he was selected by Toronto with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft. He is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time.
Ogugua "OG" Anunoby Jr. is a British-Nigerian professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers. He won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and led the league in steals while being named to his first NBA All-Defensive Team in 2023.
Gary Dajaun Trent Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.
The 2019 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) 2018–19 season and conclusion of the season's playoffs. In the best-of-seven playoff series held from May 30 through June 13, 2019, the Eastern Conference champion Toronto Raptors defeated the two-time defending NBA champion and Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors, 4–2, earning the franchise its first NBA championship as well as the first win by an NBA team based outside the United States. Acquired by the Raptors via a trade during the off-season, Kawhi Leonard was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the second time in his career.
The 2018–19 Toronto Raptors season was the 24th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). During the off-season, the Raptors acquired small forward Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs after trading franchise star DeMar DeRozan. The season ended with the franchise's first NBA Finals appearance and first NBA championship, ending the City of Toronto's 26-year championship drought if not counting Toronto FC’s 2017 MLS championship or Toronto Argonauts multiple Grey Cup Championships. The Raptors were one of two teams to have an offense and defensive rating that both ranked in the top 5 of the NBA. This edition of the Raptors is considered one of the best teams of the 21st century.
Oshae Jahve Brissett is a Canadian professional basketball player who last played for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball in Division I for the Syracuse Orange for two years before signing with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and the Indiana Pacers in 2021. Brissett joined the Celtics in 2023, where he won his first NBA championship in 2024.

He played college basketball for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Banton's selection with the 46th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors made him the first Canadian player to be drafted by the Canadian franchise.

Gradey Reed Dick is an American professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top players in the 2022 class. A small forward, in 2022, Dick was named the boys Gatorade National Player of the Year. He also runs a podcast on Bleacher Report, called "Welcome Party".

The 2023–24 Toronto Raptors season was the 29th season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On April 21, 2023, the Raptors fired head coach Nick Nurse after five seasons with the team. On June 13, 2023, the Raptors hired Darko Rajaković as their head coach. Near the end of the 2023 calender year, on December 30, the Toronto Raptors not only agreed to trade OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second round pick from the Detroit Pistons, but also ended up being the team to end the Pistons' record-holding 28-game losing streak for the regular season with a 129–127 loss on the road. On January 17, 2024, the Raptors traded star player Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis Jr. and 3 first-round picks. Following a loss to the Denver Nuggets on March 11, 2024, the Raptors failed to improve on their 41–41 record from the previous season during which they failed to make the playoffs after being eliminated in a play-in game by the Bulls. They sealed their 2nd losing season in the last decade and first in a full 82-game season since the 2012–13 season. After a loss to the New York Knicks and an Atlanta Hawks win over the Portland Trail Blazers on March 27, the Toronto Raptors were eliminated from playoff contention for the 2nd consecutive season.
