The 2023 Hawthorn Football Club season is the club's 2nd season in the AFL Women's, the 2nd season playing home games at Frankston Park, Bec Goddard's 2nd second season as coach of Hawthorn, [1] and Tilly Lucas-Rodd's 2nd season as captain. [2]
The 2023 AFL Women's season will be the 8th season of the AFL Women's competition since its inception in 2017; having entered the competition in 2022 (S7), it is the 2nd season contested by the Hawthorn Football Club. KFC, and Nature Valley are the club's two major partners. [3] [4]

Emily Bates is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She previously played for the Brisbane Lions from 2017 to season 7. Bates was selected by the Western Bulldogs in the inaugural national women's draft in 2013, and represented them in the first three years of the exhibition games staged prior to the creation of the league. She represented Brisbane in 2016, the last year that the games were held, and was drafted by the club with the second selection in the 2016 AFL Women's draft prior to the inaugural AFL Women's season.
Jessica Evelyn Duffin is an Australian sportswoman. In cricket, she has made 117 international appearances and won four world championships as a member of the Australian women's team. A right-handed batter with a reputation as a big game performer, Duffin was named Player of the Final in both the 2012 ICC Women's World Twenty20 and 2013 Women's Cricket World Cup tournaments. She also won the 2013 Belinda Clark Award for being adjudged Australia's best international women's cricketer over the previous year. Her domestic career has included playing for Victoria in the Women's National Cricket League and captaining the Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash League.
Rebecca Goddard is a former Australian rules football coach who most recently served as the head coach of the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). Goddard also previously coached Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW) between 2017 and 2018, winning the 2017 AFL Women's Grand Final. She was assistant coach of the University of Canberra Capitals in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in 2018/19, when it won the league championship.
The 2018 season was the Hawthorn Football Club's 94th season in the Australian Football League and 117th overall, the 19th season playing home games at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the 18th season playing home games at the University of Tasmania Stadium, the 14th season under head coach Alastair Clarkson, and the 2nd season with Jarryd Roughead as club captain. This was also the first season without either Luke Hodge or Sam Mitchell on the list since 2001.
Matilda Lucas-Rodd is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). They previously played for the Carlton Football Club from 2017 to 2019 and the St Kilda Football Club from 2020 to 2022 (S6). They were the inaugural Hawthorn best and fairest winner, and they have served as Hawthorn captain since 2022 season 7.
In the AFL Women's (AFLW), the North Melbourne best and fairest award is awarded to the best and fairest player at the North Melbourne Football Club during the home-and-away season. The award has been awarded annually since the club's inaugural season in the competition in 2019, and Jenna Bruton was the inaugural winner of the award.

With Jarryd Roughead and Grant Birchall departing this season will be the first to not have any player from Hawthorn's 2008 premiership team on the list.
Aileen Gilroy is an Australian rules footballer playing for Hawthorn in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Gilroy signed with North Melbourne as a rookie during the 2019 rookie signing period in August. She made her debut against Melbourne at Casey Fields in the opening round of the 2020 season.

This was the first season without Alastair Clarkson as coach since 2004. Hawthorn finished in thirteenth place with a 8–14 improving on their record from the season before. Luke Breust led the club goalkicking for the fourth time finishing the season with 40 goals.

The 2023 AFL Women's Grand Final was an Australian rules football match held on the 3 December at Ikon Park to determine the premiers of the eighth season of the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. The match was between North Melbourne and Brisbane and was won by Brisbane; it was the club's second senior women's premiership. Brisbane's captain, Breanna Koenen, was awarded the best-on-ground medal.
