The 2023 Liga 4 was the fifth season of fourth-tier football in Georgia under its current title. It began on 5 April and ended on 20 November. [1]

Contents

It was the only national division this year where no play-offs were held. The season consisted of 30 rounds with each team playing 26 matches. The top three teams gained promotion to Liga 3 while the two lowest-finishing teams were relegated to Regionuli Liga.

Teams and locations

This season was supposed to start with sixteen participating teams, but Shevardeni 1906 were disqualified first, followed by Tbilisi City later on.

After the summer break fourteen teams continued to take part in the tournament with two of them previously being members of the first tier: Sulori Vani (1991, 1991–92) [2] and Dinamo Zugdidi under different names between 1990 and 2017. [3] Five more spots were occupied by reserve teams of higher league clubs.

The 2012–13 Umaglesi Liga was the 24th season of top-tier football in Georgia. The season began on 10 August 2012 and ended on 19 May 2013.

The 2014–15 Umaglesi Liga was the 26th season of top-tier football in Georgia. The season began on 9 August 2014 and ended on 27 May 2015.

The 2015–16 Umaglesi Liga was the 27th season of top-tier football in Georgia. Dila Gori were the defending champions. The season began on 13 August 2015 and ended on 22 May 2016. It was a last season with an autumn-spring schedule before the changes of competition format to spring-autumn schedule from 2017 season.

The 2016 Georgian Cup is the twenty season overall and the twenty-seven since independence of the Georgian annual football tournament. The competition began on 15 August and finished on 22 November 2016.

Liga 4, organized by Georgian Football Federation, is the fourth tier of Georgian football league. It was founded in 2019 as a part of a comprehensive reorganization of the league system.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">FC Rustavi</span> Football club

FC Rustavi is a Georgian football club based in the city of Rustavi. Following the 2022 season, they were relegated to Liga 3, the 3rd tier of the national football system.

The 2022 Liga 3 was the 6th season under its current title and the 34th season of third tier football in Georgia. The regular two-round tournament began on 4 April and ended on 1 December with promotion play-offs completed in 10 December.

The 2016 Pirveli Liga was the 28th and last season under the name Pirveli Liga before the division was reorganized into Erovnuli Liga 2. It began on 19 August and ended with relegation play-off finals on 10 December.

Тhe 2019 Liga 3 was the third season under its current name and 32nd third-tier season since Georgia formed independent football league system in 1990. It began on 4 March and ended with promotion play-off return legs on 10 December.

Тhe 2018 Liga 3 was the second season under its current name and 31st third-tier season after the creation of independent football league system in Georgia. As a single two-round competition, it began on 5 March and ended on 6 December.

Тhe 2017 Liga 3 was the first season under its current name and 30th third-tier season in Georgia. It began on 19 March and ended on 24 November.

The 2020 Liga 4 was the second season of fourth-tier football in Georgia under its current title. The matches were supposed to begin in April, but due to the COVID-19 restrictions it was postponed until 15 August. The season ended on 18 December.

The 2022 Liga 4 was the fourth season of fourth-tier football in Georgia under its current title. The season began on 5 April and ended on 20 November.

The 2023 Liga 3 is the 7th season under its current title and the 35th season of third-tier football in Georgia. The regular two-round tournament began on 4 April and will end on 1 December with promotion play-offs due to be completed by mid-December. Each team is scheduled to play thirty matches in as many rounds.
