The 2023 Liga 3 was the seventh season under its current title and the 35th season of third-tier football in Georgia. The regular two-round tournament began on 4 April and ended on 1 December [1] with promotion play-offs completed on 10 December. Each team played thirty matches in as many rounds.

Contents

Gori had the longest tenure in the league with the 7th consecutive season while Meshakhte and Bakhmaro entered into the sixth year. On the other hand, three of the four new members, namely Locomotive-2, Rustavi and Shturmi made a debut in Liga 3.

Teams

Sixteen teams were competing in Liga 3 for the 2023 season. Five of them have previously played in the top division, namely Borjomi (2005–09), Chikhura (2012–20), Guria Lanchkhuti (1990–99, 2001–02, 2013–16), Rustavi (2018–19) and Zestafoni (2004–15) with the latter being the two-times national champions. [2] There are also three reserve teams of higher league members this season.

On 11 January 2024, the Federation announced that following the expulsion of Shukura from the 2nd division to Liga 4, Rustavi would be admitted to replace them next season with Matchakhela also spared from relegation. [5]

The Erovnuli Liga is the top division of professional football in Georgia. Since 1990, it has been organized by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. The 2016 Georgian Cup is the twenty season overall and the twenty-seven since independence of the Georgian annual football tournament. The competition began on 15 August and finished on 22 November 2016.

The 2018 Erovnuli Liga was the 30th season of top-tier football in Georgia. Torpedo Kutaisi were the defending champions. The season began on 2 March 2018 and was ended on 8 December 2018.

FC Rustavi is a Georgian football club based in the city of Rustavi. They compete in Erovnuli Liga 2, the 2nd tier of the national football system.
