The 2024 IFAF World Junior Championship (7th) was an international American football tournament for junior teams (20 years and under). The competition was co-hosted by Football Canada and Football Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta in June 2024. [1] Although Football Canada had won the most IFAF World Junior Championships with three prior to the tournament, the country has not hosted the event since it started in 2009.
In November 2023, IFAF announced that nine nations qualified for the tournament: [2]
A tentative qualification fixture was scheduled for February 2024 with Brazil and Panama to determine the top South American qualifier.
On 22 January 2024 the Edmonton Local Organizing committee announced that Canada, United States, Japan, Austria, Australia, Panama, Brazil and a undetermined team had stated their intention to compete June 20-30. [3] [4] [5] The eventual additional team would be a "B team" from Canada known as Canada II.

The 2011 IFAF World Championship was the fourth instance of the IFAF World Championship, an international American football tournament. It began on July 8, 2011 with the final games commencing on July 16. It was hosted by Austria, with games taking place in three cities: Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz; Vienna hosted the medal games.
The 2011 European Junior Championship was the sixth European Junior Championship. It was held from August 28 to September 3, 2011 in Sevilla, Spain.
The 2015 IFAF World Championship was the fifth instance of the IFAF World Championship, an international American football tournament. The United States hosted the tournament. Seven teams had confirmed their participation for the tournament in Canton, Ohio.
The 2018 European Championship was the 14th European Championship in American football. The final tournament was played in Vantaa, Finland from 29 July to 4 August 2018.
The 2016 Southern Miss Golden Eagles football team represented the University of Southern Mississippi in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Golden Eagles played their home games at the M. M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and competed in the West Division of Conference USA (C–USA). They were led by first-year head coach Jay Hopson. They finished the season 7–6, 4–4 in C-USA play to finish in third place in the West Division. They were invited to the New Orleans Bowl where they defeated Louisiana–Lafayette.
The 2019 Southeastern Louisiana Lions football team represents Southeastern Louisiana University in the 2019 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Lions are led by second-year head coach Frank Scelfo and play their home games at Strawberry Stadium. They are a member of the Southland Conference.
The 2018 IFAF U-19 World Championship was an international American football tournament for junior teams that took place at Mexico City from July 15 to July 22. This was the first time that Mexico hosted an IFAF World Junior Championship competition.
The 2021 Pittsburgh Panthers football team represented the University of Pittsburgh in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The 2023 Washington Huskies football team represented the University of Washington as a member of the Pac–12 Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Huskies were led by Kalen DeBoer in his second and final season as Washington's head coach, before leaving for Alabama at the end of the season. They played their home games at Husky Stadium in Seattle. 2023 was Washington's final season in the Pac-12 Conference before moving to the Big Ten Conference in 2024.
