The 2024 Il Lombardia was a one-day road cycling race that took place on 12 October 2024 in the Italian region of Lombardy. It was the 34th event of the 2024 UCI World Tour and was the 118th edition of Il Lombardia.
Twenty-five teams, consisting of 18 UCI WorldTeams and seven UCI ProTeams, participated in the race. Each team entered seven riders. [1] [2]

In 2006, the 100th edition of the Giro di Lombardia cycling race took place on 14 October, in and around the Italian region of Lombardy. It was won by World Champion Paolo Bettini who dedicated the victory to his brother who had recently died.
The 2011 Giro di Lombardia was the 105th edition of the Giro di Lombardia single-day cycling race, often known as the Race of the Falling Leaves. It was held on 15 October 2011, over a distance of 241 km (149.8 mi), starting in Milan and ending in Lecco for the first time. It was the 26th and final event of the 2011 UCI World Tour.
Jhoan Esteban Chaves Rubio is a Colombian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam EF Education–EasyPost. Born in Bogotá, Chaves has competed as a professional since the start of the 2012 season, having signed for the Colombia–Coldeportes team as a neo-pro, after three seasons as an amateur with the Colombia es Pasión–Coldeportes team. Chaves is a two-time grand tour podium finisher, and a monument winner.
The 2012 Giro di Lombardia or 2012 Il Lombardia was the 106th edition of the Giro di Lombardia single-day cycling race, often known as the Race of the Falling Leaves. It was held on 29 September 2012, over a distance of 251 km (156.0 mi), starting in Bergamo and ending in Lecco. It was the penultimate event of the season in the 2012 UCI World Tour. The very steep climb Muro di Sormano returned to the route during the 2012 edition after an absence of fifty years and was situated before the Madonna del Ghisallo climb. Joaquim Rodríguez won the race after a solo breakaway initiated on the final climb of the day. He became the first Spaniard to win this Classic.

Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay is an Ethiopian retired professional road cyclist from Tigray, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla. He is a three time national road race champion, six time national time trial champion, and one time African time trial champion. Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian professional cyclist when he joined MTN–Qhubeka in 2012. In 2013 Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian to win an international cycling event when he won the fifth stage of the Tour de Taiwan. He made his UCI World Tour debut at the 2013 Giro di Lombardia.
Iuri Filosi is an Italian former professional racing cyclist. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Giro d'Italia, but finished outside the time limit on Stage 8.
The 2015 Il Lombardia was a one-day cycling classic that took place around Lake Como in Lombardy in northern Italy on 4 October 2015. It was the 109th edition of the Il Lombardia one-day cycling race and was the final cycling monument of the 2015 season, as well as being the final race of the 2015 UCI World Tour. The race was organised by RCS Sport, who also organise the Giro d'Italia.
Davide Ballerini is an Italian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Astana Qazaqstan Team. Professional since 2017, he has won the 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the 2022 Coppa Bernocchi and was the 2019 European Games gold medalist in the road race. He has also competed in five Grand Tours and won a stage of the 2020 Tour de Pologne.
Gianni Moscon is an Italian professional cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam Soudal–Quick-Step. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the road race.

The 2016 Il Lombardia took place in Lombardy in Northern Italy on 1 October 2016. It was the 110th edition of the Il Lombardia road bicycle race and the closing event of the 2016 UCI World Tour.
The 2017 Il Lombardia was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 7 October. It was the 111th edition of the Il Lombardia and the 36th event of the 2017 UCI World Tour. It was won for the second time by Vincenzo Nibali. The race was marred by several severe accidents, all on the fast and technical descent of the Sormano hill. Laurens De Plus suffered a small fracture to his right knee when he was launched over the guardrail and fell into a ravine. Jan Bakelants remained hospitalised in Como with seven broken ribs and two fractures to his spine. Simone Petilli was diagnosed after his crash at the same site with two back fractures, a broken collarbone and shoulder blade.
The 2019 Il Lombardia was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 12 October 2019 in Italy. It was the 113th edition of Il Lombardia and the 37th event of the 2019 UCI World Tour. Bauke Mollema of Trek–Segafredo became the first Dutch winner of Il Lombardia since Hennie Kuiper's victory in 1981. Also, for the first time since 1990, there were no Italian riders in the top 10.
Clément Champoussin is a French cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Arkéa–B&B Hotels. In October 2020, he was named in the startlist for the 2020 Vuelta a España. On stage 20 of the 2021 Vuelta he won the final mountain stage finding himself among the GC contenders of Roglič, Haig and Mas. He finished the race 16th overall.
The 2020 Il Lombardia was a one-day road cycling race that took place on 15 August 2020 in the Italian region of Lombardy. It was part of the 2020 UCI World Tour and was the 114th edition of Il Lombardia. The race was initially scheduled to take place on 10 October. The race was first rescheduled to 31 October with the May calendar update, and subsequently to 15 August with the June calendar update in order to not conflict with the major races that had been rescheduled, with the traditional spring races held in October and the Tour de France in late August to early September.

It was won by Tadej Pogačar in the sprint against Fausto Masnada. In the chasing group Adam Yates won the sprint for third place.

It was the 34th event of the 2023 UCI World Tour and was the 117th edition of Il Lombardia. The race was won by Tadej Pogačar with a 32 kilometer solo after an attack on the descent of Passo di Ganda, marking his third consecutive victory in the race.
