The 2024 South Carolina Gamecocks softball team represents the University of South Carolina in the 2024 NCAA Division I softball season. The Gamecocks play their home games at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field

Previous Season

The Gamecocks finished the 2023 Season 40–22 overall, and 9–15 in the SEC to finish in tenth place in the conference. They were invited to the Tallahassee Regional where they finished 3–2.

The South Carolina Gamecocks softball team represents the University of South Carolina in NCAA Division I college softball. The team joined the Southeastern Conference in 1997 when the conference began to sponsor the sport. Prior to 1997, the team competed as an independent. Home games are played at the Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. The softball team has won three SEC titles and participated in eleven Women's College World Series. Patricia Marie Gasso is an American softball coach for the Oklahoma Sooners. She has been the head softball coach at the University of Oklahoma since 1995. She has led the Sooners team to eight national championships and has compiled a career record of 1,515–352–2 and a winning percentage of .811.

Clemson Tigers softball joined the Atlantic Coast Conference as a Division I varsity program in 2020. In November 2017, former Stanford coach John Rittman was named as Clemson's first head softball coach. Rittman spent the previous two years as an assistant coach at Kansas and USA Softball.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Southeastern Conference softball season</span> Sports season

The 2023 SEC softball season began play Thursday, February 9, and conference play began on Friday, March 10. Tennessee clinched the regular season conference championship on May 6. Tennessee also won the 2023 Southeastern Conference softball tournament which took place from May 9–13 at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Vanderbilt University is the only full member of the Southeastern Conference to not sponsor a softball program. Of the 13 teams in the SEC, 12 played in the NCAA tournament. Of the top 16 seeds hosting Regionals, five are from the SEC. Three of the five win their Regionals, being the only SEC teams to win Regionals. Two of the three win their Super Regionals and advance to the 2023 Women's College World Series (WCWS).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 Southeastern Conference softball season</span> Sports season

The 2024 SEC softball season began play Thursday, February 8, and conference play begins on Friday, March 8. The 2024 Southeastern Conference softball tournament takes place May 7–11 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. Vanderbilt University is the only full member of the Southeastern Conference to not sponsor a softball program.
